LSU had 43 hits over the weekend and 12 of those were extra base hits. I know Tenn doesn’t have the best pitching staff, but anytime you put up 43 hits in a weekend series in the SEC you are doing something right. Hopefully we get Smith, Broussard, and Br Jordan back for this weekend. I think LSU fans will be very pleased with how the Tigers finish out the back half of SEC play.

I don't know how you take Bain out of the lineup, he's played well at 2B.
Hughes defense at SS has been outstanding as well.

Will be nice to have those decisions to make.

I’m guessing when all those guys are back, Bain is DH with Smith 3b, Bryce 1b and Broussard 2b.

Bain at DH, his defense is no where near Broussards,

with Hughes hitting 170ish in SEC play (didn't look up the exact number) Im willing to give Smith a shot to play SS.

The bats will vanish on their own when decent pitching shows up, because it's not a point of emphasis for Manieri.

Right, b/c LSU has only been Top 3 hitting in the SEC for most of Mainieri's career. But it's not a point of emphasis for him. I seriously hope you are being sarcastic; because some of you freaking people, I swear!

2017
.289 avg (2nd)
.434 slg (3rd)
482 runs (2nd)
411 rbi (1st)

2016
.295 avg (3rd)
426 runs (2nd)

2015
.314 avg (1st)
.456 slg (1st, tied)
451 runs (3rd)
415 rbi (3rd)

2014
.287 avg (3rd)
.415 slg (2nd)
360 rbi (3rd)
394 runs (4th)

...and that is with 3 different hitting coaches in that span. This year, they are on 4th hitting coach since 2014 (and he didn't become official till right before start of season due to a freak accident to Gibbs) and are tied for 4th currently with having 2 of their best bats out of the lineup and other bats going in and out. Shall we keep going?

I'm not disputing that we bring in players with talent.

Is this supposed to show focus on this area?

A swipe of a bottom dweller looks good. But, the future is the real story yet to be told.

I really hope, for your sake, that this is just a really, really bad troll attempt and that you don't actually think this.

Maybe Mainieri knows a thing or two about hitting and feels confident enough to be able coach the hitting coach well enough to be able to delegate the day to day duties.

Ah, so you are one of those fans that when the team is playing well and/or are hitting, then it is b/c they are just talented and has nothing to do with coaching; but when they aren't playing well and/or hitting, then it is b/c of the coaching not doing their job of developing them or putting them in position to succeed? Got it.

Well, yes, it does. It shows that despite having to hire several different coaches, the program has continued to succeed offensively. Fans were unhappy with Javi (even though stats showed they were still pretty good), so Mainieri got rid of him for Andy. Andy ups and leaves at the last second on his own; so Mainieri goes in-house and still has a productive season. Then Gibbs has a freak accident before start of the season and again Mainieri is forced to make a change. But again, despite all of that, the team has continued to hit. Hmmmmm.

But thanks for showing you are the dumbass I thought you are.

Felt the need to bump this given the woeful performance vs. SC at the plate.

Nah, it’s not a point of emphasis.

And the experts from last week have vanished.

What exactly do you mean by "point of emphasis"? Are you trying to say that the coaches just don't emphasize good hitting? I don't get it.

I love when people here try to have an "edgy take" and come off looking like dumbasses.
