What 5?

Drake lost their HC and all of their good players from last season
DePaul has been one of the worst major conf. programs for the last 20 years.
Stoudamire at Georgia Tech is 31-35 in what has been the weakest the ACC has been in decades
SMU is average.
BC is going to be picked to finish near the bottom of a weak ACC...which is why they are matched up with LSU...who is going to be picked to finish near the bottom of the SEC.

The only truly "solid" team is Texas Tech.

A pitiful non conference schedule before we take on our usual recent identity of SEC doormat. There will be one WTF game in there too (see: Nicholls St, Dayton, etc.)

I cannot wait until we have new leadership. So glaringly obvious McMahon is not the guy. Just one more dreadful year (assuming Woodward actually feels like doing his job come March).

Pathetic and unserious program. McMahon was never the answer and it was hilarious how long it took some people to see that

Will Wade has always known how to build a schedule that puts his team in position to make the tournament.

NC State is playing 5 schools in OOC that made last year's tournament:

Liberty (12) - 1st Round
Ole Miss (6) - Sweet 16
Kansas (7) - 1st Round
Auburn (1) - Final 4
VCU (11) - 1st Round

LSU is playing 3 schools in OOC that made last year's tournament:

Omaha (15) - 1st Round
Drake (11) - 2nd Round
Texas Tech (3) - Elite 8

Let's compare, shall we? I've thrown out the tournaments and conference challenges since neither team gets to pick those opponents.

NC State (average NET: 131)
------
Kansas (20)
Ole Miss (28)
VCU (31)
Liberty (60)
UAB (106)
UNCG (138)
UNC Asheville (192)
Texas Southern (285)
North Carolina Central (319)

LSU (average NET: 256)
-----
SMU (46)
Omaha (161)
Southeastern Louisiana (208)
Florida International (260)
Southern Miss (299)
Tarleton State (302)
Alcorn State (330)
New Orleans (346)
Prairie View (356)

Pretty fricking dire.

edit: left Omaha off, not that it matters

This is a horrific home schedule. No reason to have all but 1 Quad 4 games

LSU will have a good record coming out of non conference but the computers are going to hate them. SWAC schools are absolute killers to the NET. Throw in New Orleans and Tarleton St. and LSU will have to do very well in the SEC to sniff the big dance.

There’s an art to scheduling. You can schedule easier games that your team should win without tanking your NET.

Wow. We are playing 5 teams essentially with a sub 300 NET. Even in the unlikely event that we are middle of the pack in the SEC we've already fricked ourselves out of the tournament pretty much.

I don't defend MM a lot, but Dayton wasn't a "WTF" game. They made it to the second round of the NCAAT as a 7 seed that year. To date, Nicholls is the only low mid-major loss (though there have been some close calls). No one can say for certain LSU won't lose one of the low mid-major games this year, but doing so would very much be an outlier relative to the past three seasons.

Criticism is fine...but at least be accurate with the facts.

The issue hasn't been LSU accumulating a lot of "bad" losses. It's they haven't notched many "good" wins. Realistically, you're probably looking about 6-7 "good" wins (i.e. wins against good teams or, at least solid teams away from home) if we are being lenient, over the course of nearly 100 games.

The fact is that we blew a sizable second half lead in that game. But of course, I’m sure you knew that already being the authority on LSU sports.

Your style of nitpicking is old.

I suppose Woody doesn't want LSU on TV.
Is there a team on the schedule predicted to make the tourney?
