I'm so sick of the fans that claim

"it's early"

"Mid-week games dont matter"

I know the game has evolved and the competition is better....but Skip Bertman used to TRY to win all of his games. He experimented but not to the point that you lose a game. He wouldn't only try to WIN but he would try to DOMINATE.

We dont have that killer instinct and this approach has cost us in away games, and in tournament play.

The goal every moment of every day should be to WIN

JUST WIN BABY

This would have merit if we were playing a bunch of backups to get them experience and they were the ones that weren't hitting.

That's not what's been happening though.

I'm pulling for them through thick and thin...and I hope PM lights a fire under their arse and at least has them playing to their potential.....

Same as Basketball....

I mean... it is.

It's possible to be extremely frustrated with how the season is going while also understanding there is a long way to go and this team could turn it around quickly if things come together.

Project,

What do you think / know about the leadership of this team? Coming into the season, one would have expected leadership to be a massive strength. With the individuals returning that could have moved on, it seemed to me that Paul could have let the team police itself. IE hold each other accountable....which is what great teams do.

I guess a different question is do you think this is a leadership problem? Or is it something else?

TIA

All will be fine with these guys. The preseason ranking is what has all the fans in such a uproar in my opinion. CPM will right the ship.

Great team leaders need motivation from the head coach at times.....Maineri can't motivate shite....never has been able to. That's why he needs someone like Cannizaro on staff that can do it. Or a real alpha player like a Mahtook or Bregman.....this team doesn't have anything close to that.

I'm not trying to claim they will or will not turn things around this season, but all this panic sounds eerily similar to 2017.

That year we were 13-5 pre-conference losing to UNO twice and McNeese once.

Then we soon went to lose 2 of 3 to Florida and A&M, also losing 2 mid-week games to Tulane in the process.

I know we didn't win the whole thing that year, but we sure did make it to the college world series.

Starting slow has become a trend the past 3 years. It worked out well once.

We need to quit comparing every team to the outlier.

I’ve said this exact same thing last night multiple times. CPM has proven in the past he can overcome a slow start. They are playing bad baseball right now but this team has a run in it I know it does. Smith and Watson aren’t going to strike out 5 times in a game often. Duplantis will start hitting its only a matter of time. Garza needs to take the catcher spot when he can do it full time.

It’s a funny thing with midweek and out of conference games. They mostly don’t matter and should be used as somewhat of a practice, but when the usual starting lineup is in the game and looking foolish like they did Tuesday, it ain’t good.

The pitching injuries combined with the awful production at the plate of the newcomers (bottom of lineup) is putting all the stress on the top 4/5 hitters. At this point, you can't go get better players. If they can't produce, it's going to be a long season with preseason #1 aspirations.

Even Slaughter and Feduccia would at least give you competitive at bats if PM hadn't told them to take wherever you are drafted.
Also, I bet Bryce Jordan could have helped as well.

I'm not comparing, I'm just saying this isn't new territory for us.

Either way it has been 7 years or so that we have made the post-season. You say 3 years, but we won our regional 2 of 3 times the past 3 years, only losing last year to the National Champions.

Once conference starts the "it's early" excuse goes out of the window for me.

The only reason I’m not full on sky screaming yet is the fact that Paul just lost his dad. I’m sure that has some to do with what’s going on. My main issue is that we have the talent, but that talent isn’t being coached like they should, especially in the hitting department. Our hitters approach at the plate is terrible, and that’s on the coach for not having them prepared, or having a plan B during the game when plan A doesn’t work

What I look at is what is our record against teams that are on equal ground as LSU. Not the armed forces or swac schools. 6-7 is what I came up with. Thank god for a down Kentucky team...

But the bottom of the line up isn't newcomers.

I know it is tough to watch. I lose my mind every game expecting us to just flip a switch. We are all in a slump right now but I fully believe we will figure it out soon and be unstoppable when we do.
