I see you're counting Kling, Jones, and Neal as having been recruited by the previous staff, which is true, but getting those guys to campus was a BIG deal.
Which is why I noted Johnson still had to follow through with signing and navigating the draft. It wasn’t meant to say he wasn’t involved, just a response to the post about the previous staff and how they weren’t recruiting at the end.

I'm not sure we get Neal, Kling, Jones, and Shores to campus under the previous staff.
Theres no way to know for sure. The previous staff landed its share of players from the draft and Johnson lost several of his from the last class as well.

Yeah I dont thin kthis is right for Sat/Sun. I see how you got to Friday if you add Jobert to the guy's list above.

But we had Thompson, Dugas, Morgan and Crews start Sat/Sun so how could it be 8/10 if those are 4 guys right there? Only argument for Sat/Sun is 6/10 max.

Saturday
Dugas - signed by previous staff
Morgan - signed by previous staff
Crews - signed by previous staff
Jones - committed to previous staff, signed by Johnson
Jobert - signed by previous staff
Thompson - signed by previous staff
Neal - committed to previous staff, signed by Johnson
Kling - committed to previous staff, signed by Johnson
Nippolt - transferred under Johnson
Cooper - transferred under Johnson

Sunday
Pearson - signed by previous staff
Shores - committed to and signed by Johnson

Mot “the issue with the previous staff was much more about roster management and development once they arrived” ??? Maybe management but I don’t recall Paul or his staff developing many players. The last games Paul coached his players in obvious sac bunk situations failed because they always bunted last second like they were going for a hit and couldn’t lay it down. Some development . All those players that transferred certainly didn’t develop.
I specifically mentioned lack of player development being a problem, bigger than recruiting. And poor roster management led to some players being forced into major roles before they were ready, or bigger roles than what they were originally brought in for.

We have players on the current roster committed to Cannizzaro, Cain, Johnson (with no RC], Fitzgerald, and Jordan.

It’s just a function of the recruiting timelines of baseball. We can look at the recruiting, development, and talent eval of the old staff based on historical data. We don’t have that yet on Johnson.

It’s pretty clear that the opportunity to outpace the old staff is there though because of more recruiters actually hitting the road and more avenues of player procurement.

Agree, I think we can safely assume the old staff wouldn’t have been as active in the transfer market, and wouldn’t have been seen as a destination due to the lack of development. Johnson will surpass what they did here.

But it doesn’t take away the fact they managed to identify and get commitments from many of the players that everyone is currently excited about.

Yep. Even I was a little surprised by the numbers I posted with breakdown by recruiter.

It will be a little more even next year, but should take a hard turn in the 2025 season. We don’t have anymore old staff commits in the 2024 and below classes I don’t think.

Does he have football eligibility remaining? We could use depth at safety...

Not sure. He’s got to get healthy and then perform. We are after a bunch of juco arms, but they’re all actually pitching. He’s still on the shelf I think.
