Is it still true that Skenes "wouldn't even crack TN's starting rotation," as TN fans on the SECRant were claiming pre-season?

The only argument would be who was the Friday night guy between Skenes and Dollander.

It's a team sport, post team stats if anything.

Well then, that's on the Vols.

No shite.

Different team needs, different approaches. It worked out for us. And their catcher position is still a weakness.

Do you think the Skenes v Dollander game will be Thursday or Friday? I know sometimes coaches don't want to mess with the pitchers' routines.

I think so. I don't think being moved up one day for a bunch of veterans pitchers is that big a deal.

That whole series is going to be electric.

You would think after 4 decades of being a baseball school everyone would understand this….but here we are

Unfortunately LSU isn’t a baseball school. It’s a football school with a great baseball program. Most of the fans still follow baseball with a football mentality.

You can’t live and die on every pitch or even every game. It’s a very unhealthy way to watch a baseball season.

Pitching and defense. As long as we keep pitching well and making the routine plays, we'll hit enough to make a deep run.

Solidly agree. He’s the glue.

Legitimately has a chance to hit Big Ben's single season K record. Well above the single season K/9 record.

The current holder of the K/9 single season record? Ty Floyd (2021) at 14.42 (39K in 24.1 IP).

Normally stats like that have a qualifier like they have to pitch at least 1 inning per team game played, so Floyd wouldn't qualify with only 24 innings.

Agreed, I just rolled with what was listed in the LSU record book on LSUSports.net.

He is off to an unreal start. Look forward to seeing how he does the rest of the season especially when the SEC Schedule starts.

Dugas is the dude you want on a championship team. He may never make it professionally but he’s experienced, a leader, busts his arse every time he goes out there, and seems to play his best when we need it most. I appreciate what he brings to this team so much. Him bring able to platoon at so many diff positions is also so helpful

I wanna say Ben had 202 K's that year. Could be wrong, but that is off the top of my head.

Skenes has a long way to go, but I'm sure Ben would love to see it.
