It’s not uncommon for 3 or 4 players to have 50% of the walks. It’s actually expected. Those 3 players are part of the team. Kinda disingenuous to ignore a third of the lineup.

Crews-Morgan-Beloso own 52% of the team’s walk shares

Bench players hold another 18%.
Are you saying that some hitters walk more often than other hitters?!?

That is some damn fine baseball analysis, Lester!

You can’t pimp a 3 outcome lineup when half of the lineup is missing one of the 2 positive variables lol.

The 2017 team, for example, had 6 or 7 regulars with positive a BB%.

From that link.

FIP = ((HR x 13) + (3 x (BB + HBP)) - (2 x K)) / IP + FIP constant.

Three players on the 2017 team, Deichmann, Josh Smith & Papierski, had 45% of the team's walks.

That's not much difference from this year's team and it supports what ell said.

And Robertson & Freeman had 21% of the teams walks alone. Both walked more than they struck out.

Your point does not hold a bit of water concerning what I am talking about

For instance, Dugas, Arnold, Thompson & Milazzo have 9 walks between them.

There are 4 players with 3 walks. 6 out of 48 is 12.5%. An 8% difference can be made up easily through the rest of the year. My point is that this teams approach is definitely different from years past. 48 walks through 9 games is much more than previous years. That can’t be ignored.

Are we gonna go back to other years and pick the 4 “worst” starters in this category too?

We can, just depends where you think this team is headed. People were talking championships yesterday & 17’ was a championship caliber lineup.

Team was hard to get out top to bottom. Look at the walks, look at the HBP, look at the speed.

You and I both know that’s retarded. And 2017 wasn’t even our best lineup in the last 10 years. Top 5 yes. Maybe top 3.

You can’t sit here and pretend those numbers I posted are a future predictor of production & consistency.

I certainly understand the approach, but being all or nothing is not the goal; there has to be filler & if it’s not there vs these teams, it won’t ever be there consistently going forward.

You keep posting the Crews RBI stat & it’s a direct reflection of what I am talking about.

Yes, it does.

It hurts me to say this but ell is right.

I didn’t say it was the best. Simply championship caliber.

Tells me enough though if you’re going to even attempt to discount that lineup but sit here and try & pretend that this current lineup has a bunch of dudes in it

You say the batting order

I say you have two automatic outs at the bottom of it

It’s the same thing

Gotta love the approach doe

They overachieved is my point about them.

Pretending what? They have a different approach compared to other years. It’s showing among the youngest players most which makes sense. They ARE more patient and going deeper in ABs. There’s a stat that we talked about last week concerning the number of pitches they’re seeing per PA.

Milazzo and who?

Some kids just aren’t good at hitting and aren’t ready yet. You can call out plenty of years with 1 or two batters struggling.
