something has to going on in Cabrera's head....287 is good but he's better than than what he's shown in the last year

at least Hal Hughes is consistent

Cade is going to leave here as yet another GOAT

Would have liked to have seen that 1 XBH in his 93+ plate appearances

CJ Willis had a good summer. More walks than K's I like that

He went off in the first round of the Cape playoffs. He trailed off a bit the next round, but still had a playoff average over .300. Had a HR and a few RBI, a SF. In that first round, he was a big reason why they made it to the next round. It was timely hitting and just overall better hitting.

And he won't hit above the mendoza line again next year. It is laughable that this kid is still on the team. But Paul thinks he is Ozzie Smith in the field

There is a wide gulf between knowing he's best fielding infielder on the team and thinking he's as good as Ozzie Smith.

Have you even seen him tumble yet?

I've never seen Hal do a back flip. That doesn't mean that he can't.

That in itself is an indictment on Maneiri's recruiting. A kid with a career .959 fielding percentage should never be the best infielder on any LSU team.

I'm not going to defend Mainieri's infield recruiting, because there are clear issues, but fielding percentage is a shitty stat to lean on. And Hughes would be the best fielding infielder on a lot of teams.

Will go down as one of the biggest head-scratchers in LSU baseball history once his career finishes given he probably isn't turning things around.

How good is the competition in these leagues?

You are right, Hughes doesn't have great range (since he is slow) so he doesn't make errors on plays that a really good defensive shortstop would make an attempt on. Glad you brought that up.

I see Hal Hughes is still hitting the cover off the ball. For fricks sake.
He either needs to start hitting to an LSU/SEC standard or be let go.

The Cape Cod League rosters are built by MLB scouts. You could argue that the talent is pretty close to Short Season Single A ball, maybe.
