ESPN says LSU v FL was highest rated game in 10 something years. 6 mil viewers.
Is CBS saying with their much ,much larger market than ESPN/cable, they cannot sell enough additional ads to break the contract and secure a prime time game?
Promotional benefits:
(#1 vs #2 or 2 top teams)
Not 1 but 2 Heisman candidates,
"everybody hates Bama national sentiment IMO" ie more Bama haters than fans on national basis
Burrow quitting tOSU to try out for starting job elsewhere (and I think he has a good following in OH to boot. "David vs Goliath" promo.
So if you're the advertiser, and you were in at 2:30 kick off against maybe a dozen competing games.
would you pull out for primetime game? So I say $ talks and BS walks! et tu?
In addition, and this is just my opinion, LSU plays more night games/yr than Bama. Our players are comfortable with a game day routine based on 7:00 kick off. Bama cannot say this. A small intangible perhaps.
back filling the 2:30 time slot should not be a problem , will not cannibalize LSU game, and adds some $ to CBS pockets IMO.

And ESPN would need to pay a boatload of money.

Worked wonders the last 8 games hasn't it?

Depends, maybe all the sponsorship dollars are willing to jump on the primetime slot but not so much since the 230 game will now be lackluster

CBS has been known to flex their schedule to start earlier for big games. Also the only reason it doesn't start week one is because it conflicts with their US Open coverage (which is also why Chris Fowler isn't on the ABC games early in the seasons).

I've said it numerous times but ill say it again. IF LSU AND ALABAMA ARE 1 VS 2 IT WILL BE A NIGHT GAME.

CBS doesn’t carry the us open anymore. Thought it was on espn no, hence the reason Fowler didn’t call Texas game this year. I think cbs would want Texas game on prime time next year, like Notre Dame-Georgia game this year. Could be a great bargaining chip with the option of other sec games to pick from later in the year. With that being said, look for whom ever gets the new sec contract to put game of the week on at night.

Assuming there are no upsets, this is THE game of the season.
It is ridiculous not to have it in primetime.

If my memory serves me right we gave them the biggest Elephant arse kicking I've ever seen them get in a day game with Rohan chucking to Reed for a still standing SEC pass record?
Day time will be fine...

That game is week 2, isn’t that before the CBS games start?
As noted....not since ESPN started covering the US Open. CBS didn’t start their coverage early this year because the SEC slate in week two sucked out loud. Last year they did televise UGA/USCe in week two and they will have the rights to our game with Texas. That game had better be at night!

Depends on which other sec games they have. I mean if it not at night what are you or any of us going to do to change it?

Ahh, that’s right the US Open is on ESPN now. Seems like they still started later but if it’s because the games suck that makes sense and with that in mind, I would be surprised if they don’t take LSU-Texas for PT and not LSU-Bama next year as well.

2:30 favors us. We need a change in order to expect different results. Also not at Tiger Stadium so I don’t care.
