Funny how everyone points to small technicalities instead of talking about the real issues.

Hm.

yea, the Miles fans don't know anything about the players or even how the TAF works. They probably don't realize that LSU athletics is 100 percent privately funded.

Coach O and Frank aren't going anywhere. If we hire a coach with coordinator experience then you don't have to buy out the OC/DC

it's a good thing, then that most of the money will come from boosters and not the admins

you know what will cost us more in the long term? waiting. waiting will cost us donations and season tickets, it will cost us bowl money and it will take years to rebuild once the infection of miles sets in.

Tiger Athletic Foundation started a piggy bank a few years ago to which they all contribute a dollar every time the team has a false start, holding call or block in the back. That along with compounded interest puts them right at 20 mill.

I LOVE Les Miles.

But, what MUST be done eventually, SHOULD be done immediately.

If the idea of retaining Miles is..."we will fire him. Just when it costs less"...then the correct thing to do is release him (negotiate a divorce) now.

The only reason to have him return is that you think he will change / improve and you will not want to get rid of him next season.

It is a sad day for me. But, I think it MUST be done eventually...do it NOW

66 hahaha. and if we keep less next year, we won't be fearing the thumb anymore but fearing another 6. the end would be near.

Bama went up by 10, Arkanas by 21 and Ole Miss by 24 before we ever scored a point in those games. We should not be that bad.

Ole Miss has a QB that is still in his first year in that system even though he went to Clemson and to junior college first. He is in his 1st year playing in the SEC. Yet, Ole Miss is 11th in the nation in passing. He has great skills and is coached well. We had a similar situation when Mett went to Georgia, then played at Butler Community College before coming to LSU where he sat a year before playing. We finished 94th in passing in Mett's first year starting. Hmmm...

You're the one pointing out the technicalities.

TAF, Tiger Athletic Foundation, will be paying for the buyout. Press is already reporting that it's not a problem.

quote:

A decision on his future is likely to come in the very near future, with many Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) members ready to move on and start a new era in Baton Rouge. The $15 million-dollar buyout clause that is in Les Miles' contract is what many perceive as one of the bigger hang-ups in making a move.

However, TAF, the athletic program's booster club that funds a lot of the athletic programs for LSU, will not allow the buyout issue to thwart its plans, according to a high-ranking source.

TAF has been split for some time in its support for Miles, with many senior members disagreeing with the recent extension given to him two years ago. The group does not appear to be split anymore, with the vast majority of its members believing that it is time for a new coach.

LSU will not be contributing a dime to the coaching situation. It's all through TAF.
