Any suggestions other than Sidebar and Max Lager's about where to go after the game? Little or no cover if possible...

As a disclaimer, our chapter guide only listed food and drink establishments that contributed to our scholarship fund so we hope Tiger fans will want to be where they are welcomed and patronize them in return.

To add some personal comments, most places except the casual bars have a cover/special event and not that many bars can really be found downtown. Hotel bars? Plastic fantastic. Hard Rock? Not sure if they are charging a cover for cardboard nachos. Gibney's Pub is near the Hilton and supported us last year. They said convention business has been tough or they would have partnered with us again. Lots of Tigers enjoyed the place last year so we hope and expect they get some return business. There is a sports bar in the area, but they did not return our calls about taking a listing. Plus the place is owned by the radio station that carries Ga. Tech sports and has been dissing LSU lately so we figured they weren't interested in LSU. Now I hear Miles is having his radio show there. I'd rather not recommend it over the places that supported us and are welcoming LSU fans. Maybe if they don't see a lot of P&G we can deal with them for the SECCG next year.

We only listed the Peach Drop because it is a free event but it's really nothing special. Times Square without the excitement or atmosphere - and half of Underground has shut down. Wait in line for 30 minutes for a drink. Ugh. Watch the peach drop on TV.

There are more places about ten minutes cab ride away in Midtown, Virginia Highlands or Little Five Points but good luck finding a cab at 11 pm in the crush. Forget Buckhead, you'll never get there in time and it ain't what it used to be for clubs. Go to Creative Loafing online or Google Atlanta club entertainment if you want to find some listings and call around for info on covers.

Bottom line is that when the game lets out you will have maybe an hour to get somewhere before midnight. MARTA will be JAMMMMED so IMO you need to walk to a place nearby. If you have a special someone just hanging out in Centennial Park with the lights all around would be romantic. The anti-bar solution.

Thanks so much for your help! We came for the SECCG in 2005 and were underage so I was clueless when we were thinking about where to go this time...I'm sure we'll see you at Sidebar before the game!

Is there RV parking available in the yellow parking area or else where at the Dome location? I would like to come to the game in my RV, but will not be towing a vehicle for local transportation. I hate to drive that distance and not be able to park my RV close to the Dome
thanks, Frank

Cheetah is in no danger of closing anytime soon. Don't know why that dude said they were except to maybe shill for the other places. But I have "heard" that the Pink Pony off 85 in Chamblee has some nice shoes on display. Don't go to any of the places south of town, rough trade and neighborhoods.

Not that I know anything about this subject other than second-hand info. Oh, hi honey. Just posting some info on the Rant. Hitting Submit now.

The official parking location info is at this link
Ga. World Congress Center/Ga. Dome RV parking
Scroll down a bit and you'll find a link to order a pass online. The marshaling yard is all the way on the north end of the Ga. World Congress property, not too far but a bit of a hike.

If I'm not mistaken I think there is a private lot across the street west of the Dome on Northside Dr. that is more close. I don't think RV parking is available anywhere in the downtown grid other than looking around the north end of Centennial Park and east up to downtown. Some of those outer lots might seel multiple spaces for an RV but security might be an issue if you set up by yourself overnight. If you see another RV in the lot there's strength in numbers.

Best to stay on the west side among the others is my advice. Hope this helps.

If you like freak shows, MARTA is the place to be! Seriously, there are some strange characters that ride that thing.

If you are in Atlanta for any length of time, the hippest areas to visit are Virginia/Highlands and Little Five Points. The former is more trendy, the latter is a post-hippie hangout. Both are a short drive from downtown, but are not on a main MARTA line.

Honestly, it's a sea of humanity and not as much pizazz as Times Square for sure. I went once.

I guess it depends on how far away you are staying. It's a mile from the door of the Dome to Underground. Then however far back to your hotel afterwards. MARTA runs 24 hrs on NYE but it will be jammed for three straight hours after the game.

I think it's a better experience if you are staying up near Peachtree to walk back up through Centennial Olympic Park and find a place to watch the Peach Drop on TV. You won't go anywhere there isn't a crowd. There's a few places that will be open to all ages in the area. We suggested Max Lager's but ask around the hotel and see if the concierge or front desk folks have any ideas if they tell you the same thing you are hearing here.

Maybe I'm jaded, but hurrying to get there, pushing and jostling around to get a view for the short ones because everyone else got all the close spots while the game was still going on, and then walking a long distance with kids in the cold with a bunch of people, some drunk, is not a happy picture for me.

Im staying in Holiday Inn Downtown World Congress Center. It suppose to be 3 blocks from GD. Just curious if that is a fact and if it is safe and practical to walk with wife and kids back to hotel after the game. Thanks in advance
