Austin Thomas saved last year's recruiting class (and saved Orgeron from a lot of grief) by snagging Phillips and Jacoby P. during the last week or so of the recruiting cycle. Orgeron should pay him out of his own pocket and that may be what Alleva has in mind.

I fully agree. And, I got my most downvoted comment ever for saying this exact same thing a couple months ago

Alleva and O have to request the TAF supplement Austin Thomas’ salary and O has done it. Alleva refuses to. Alleva can STTDB. The fans should revolt like Tenn did and get that scrub fired.

First, as someone stated earlier, that article isn’t all encompassing and most of his salary is paid by TAF. Secondly, the guy makes around $475k a year (or at least that was stated in an earlier post) and that’s more than some head coaches in college football, not to mention asst coaches. While he is an integral part of the LSU football staff, you’re going to be hard pressed to find a guy making that much doing what he does in college football making anywhere close to that. Not the NFL, COLLEGE FOOTBALL. It is not a good look to pay some guy you consider a GM more than most schools pay coordinators in COLLEGE FOOTBALL. If he leaves for Tennessee that wouldn’t be surprising considering he went to school there. But it is equally important to remember that he got his start at LSU and O was the one who got him that very large salary for the job he has.

You coudlnt be more wrong. He was making like 125k, went to USC, then got a raise to 140k or something like that.

He is worth his weight in gold. If you have ever seen moneyball, he is like our version of that guy. He is incredible organizationally, has had high praise from Coach O and Frank Wilson - two of the best in the game.

If you can justify Coach O making 3.5, and Alleva making whatever he makes - give Austin Thomas north of 250k, buy him a free house, pay for him to have a maid, give him a company car, and give him an expense card.

Do whatever it takes - you guys will see a major hit on the recruiting trail if he leaves (or when if Joe keeps up his shite). All these diamond in the rough three stars that end up killing it have to do with Austin doing relentless evaluations. He is like Nick Saban when it comes to getting on prospective film tapes and identifying talent ahead of the curve.

You couldnt sound more idiotic. Id ask if you need to buy a vowel, but you arent even losing this game, you were never even a player.

If you seriously believe he is only getting $125k for the job he does, you are the idiot not me. That amount is the amount reported by the school being payed by the school. That doesn’t include the amount that TAF and other boosters are paying him. I believe he is worth a lot to this program. I never stated he wasn’t. But if you honestly think he is worth more than $500k you have lost your freaking mind. Last time I checked, he has not coached in his entire career. Yes what he does is important, but he doesn’t garuntee that a kid he recruits to the school will be anything special. I’m sure you will try to throw Jacob Phillips and Jacoby Stevens out and say that makes him worth it. But that argument is invalid because neither of those two players have done anything of note other than being 5 star recruits.

Before you try to insult me, learn to do a little research. You might also want to think about coming up with more than the same group of words to post in multiple threads...

Maybe Alleva fears he will replace him some day. I can see Thomas as an AD in the future.

Scott Woodward from aTm will be coming home as AD as soon as we rid ourselves of Alleva.
