I have never hated the Cajuns, and I absolutely love Lafayette! But I despise the delusional UL shite. UL doesn't exist. Now I could cheer for ULL like all but one university in Louisiana.

The other state school that is really good in baseball is Tulane. I see no reason why we shouldn't support them as well.
The best thing for Tulane is an epic fire that clears the ground so that Audubon Park can jump St. Charles Ave.! Barring the sterilizing fire, the next best thing would be dropping all voluntary contact with them.

I live in the heart of cajun country. We support both Schools. Most folks do

While I get your point and don't necessarily disagree as several people in this thread have stated LSU doesn't need this game for RPI.
However, I'd consider a 3 game set with ULL every year or every other year if LSU was guaranteed to never have to go to Lafayette. It just doesn't make financial sense for LSU to do that.

i love the Tigers, but let's give the Cajuns their due. they've earned the right to host LSU on a semiregular basis

Id rather play a 3 game series before conference play starts rather than against teams like air force, grambling, and cincinnati. Maybe let lsu always host the first 2 games and ull gets the 3rd at their place

They need to go back and call themselves USL, They definitely are not The University of Louisiana

But going to Lake Charles to play mcneese does?

Nuts4LSU, LSU has zero need to play ULLLL to help its RPI. The SEC schedule alone puts it over the top. ULLL, on the other hand, does need help due to the relative weakness of its conference. So tell me why should LSU go out of its way to help ULLLL when the hate got so strong that LSU quit playing them for several years? In both baseball & softball. I am from Lafayette originally & tried supporting both schools. The ULLLL old school alumni forced me to pull only for LSU years ago & I've never looked back. CPM will never give up the revenue from a 3 game home series just to help ULLLL or any other state school. Tulane used LSU sports for decades till the athletic dept finally wised up. ULLL has been playing that game ever since their baseball program got better.

Sorry I'm just now getting back to this thread, wife had the flu and I've been trying to wrangle 3 kids by myself the last couple days.
Anyway, in response to the RPI discussion... it's one of the main reasons I started this thread. I know the majority of a fan base gets the RPI but how many of you truly understand the ins and outs of it?
For example, road wins count for 1.5 wins while home wins count for .5. Whereas road losses are only -.5 and home loses are a whopping -1.5. We all know that LSU is always going to have a definite road to a top 15 RPI playing in the SEC, but what about those years where the Tigers are hovering around 40 wins with an RPI just outside say the top 10 with Natty Seed potentially out of reach. If you would have played the Cajuns in a 3 game set early in the season rather than Air Force, and since y'all are so confident you'd beat UL, then that would provide a significant boost to your RPI to get you back in National Seed range. You'd then have 2-3 more wins vs a potentially Top 25 RPI team to add to the resume. The committee favors teams that play strong OOC schedules.
That's all I'm saying when I suggest it could help both teams by season's end. I wasn't suggesting LSU needed major RPI help, just suggesting that the Tigers wouldn't mind any little boost they can get when fighting for a National Seed come season's end.
Besides, the games and competition is fun in-state. If you look at it objectively, it does make sense.

I say 3 midweek games between the two teams throughout the season. 1 game at the Box, 1 game at Tigue, and the final game at Zephyr Field

I like that idea, and having the WPC as a championship-type game.

For two strong programs to be within 50 miles of each other and not take advantage of the opportunity to boost their numbers by playing each other really doesn't make sense.
You're right though, it doesn't make sense, for LSU though. At best, it really won't strengthen LSU's schedule because LSU will already have a tough schedule. It would only help out ULL and as far as we're concerned (LSU), why in the hell would we want to help out a bunch of idiots that hate us?

CPM will never play a 3 game series against UL. Why? Not because of the loss of $$$. It's because of the possibility of losing against lil brother.
Posted on 1/15/17 at 5:09 pm to joeleblanc
Yeah LSU is scared of Lafayette....

Well the way Coach PM talks like this LSU staff this year is on par with Florida and vandy. Apparently LSU has a freshman pitcher who turned down a big pro contract and he is scary good. PM stated he throws a consistent 96 mph fastball and an un hittable slider.

How hard is it for y'all to understand you aren't the University of Louisiana?
If you want to be called UL drop the damn Lafayette.
