While I agree 100% this administration is completely awful, King went against the big donors on the Miles situation too and kept his job

Alleva is a Yuge problem. He hates Miles and is not a fan of football. He's a puppet.

Rally Possum will enjoy his new habitat. Good thing Rally Possum came along when he did.

Did I miss anything in that article? It seems like nothing about F. King was ever mentioned. It only gives reasons why LSU would not be able to get a tiger through its traditional methods.

One of the problems mentioned is commitment to improving the continuation of the species before a reputable organization can donate/transfer one... Mike is a hybrid, therefore sterile; is there no reputable way to acquire another hybrid?

Yeah ok why not?

Yeah, hope like hell another Bengal male has a one-night-stand with a Siberian female.

Or vice-versa.

You missed nothing. The majority in this thread never bothered to read the article. It says nothing about the LSU administration or AD.

Of course it doesn't. That's the point. Why would the Advocate decide to print this story? Rebekah Allen is a proven "mouthpiece" for the LSU administration. Can't you see that LSU is "floating" this story in an effort to set things up for a decision to NOT replace Mike VI.

The article is further proof of what a left-wing mouthpiece The Advocate has become. It should come as no surprise that the first "expert" the article quotes, Debra Leahy, has extensive ties to PETA. The article is a veiled hit piece.

Prior to joining HSUS, Leahy founded the animal rights group Illinois Animal Action, which she headed for eight years. She then joined PETA and lead their nationwide campaign against circuses and roadside zoos... Debbie Leahy is not an attorney. She is an extreme animal rights activist.

The article later quotes Kellie Heckman of GFAS, who also has ties to PETA.

am i the only one that thinks that not making a beautiful animal come out in front of 100,000 drunk screaming people every saturday night or live in a caged sanctuary in the middle of baton rouge louisiana not that big a deal as for traditions to be let go?

I mean, what would be different?

This isn't new. A tiger was hard to find last time and PETA didn't want us to find a tiger.

It only takes finding one.

You are correct. However, an article like this on the front page of the Advocate smells like a set up.

I could give on Mike not going out to games. Him being on campus is the most important aspect of this argument to me. We have the best habitat in the nation with one of the best vet schools in the nation. No reason to let the tradition of having a live tiger on campus go.

what are the befits of having said mascot on campus other than, "it's cool and we like it"? just curious.

the games would still happen. people would still cheer. football would still football. mike is an accessory to the source of the fun.

how is this remotely relevant.

i just don't see the difference any more. i live out of state. i enjoy the games. traditions come and go. people move on and find a way to love and support the institution that they love.
