I'm sure this is preferable to playing Tulane in the Dome.

For our AD financially, yes it is. Because in both situations it's all LSU fans but in this case LSU gets the home team share of the money.

It really doesn't make sense. LSU fans won't buy single game tickets for this and I doubt Towson will travel well. When you schedule in state teams at least they travel well. Most of the smaller schools want a chance to see their team play in TS and tailgate at LSU.

68,000 or so season ticket holders won't have a choice. Then, there is the option of rolling the tickets in with the ever popular mini-season ticket package like other schools do. There is a way to get the majority sold, and I'm sure LSU will do it.

I'm sure LSU fans in NOLA (non season ticket holders) would love to play Tulane in the Dome over stinking Towson.

And LSU gets 40K tickets and keeps the revenue. It's good for the state and the NOLA area fans.

NOLA is an hour away from BR. They can make the trip to Tiger Stadium.

That's a lot less than 90k

So is a game in TS

Dont get me wrong. A game against Tulane in TS is much more preferred than this shitshow. I hate FCS opponents.

irrelevant since the '07 lsu/tulane game at the dome did not sell out.

eta: then again, having an 11am kickoff didn't help.

If we're going to schedule a school of this caliber it should be Southern. That would at least add some flavor to the game.

I'm sure LSU fans in Laffy (non season ticket holders) would love to play ULL at Cajun Field over stinking Towson....but that ain't gonna happen either. Tulane needs to stop thinking that is something that it isn't. The only thing Tulane is..is the least shitty place in a real shitty City.

I live in NOLA and I'd rather drive to BR and tailgate.

See my post on page 2. They played Indiana and Northwestern the last two years and lost badly to both.

So they have played Navy, Northwestern, Indiana (slaughtered in all 3) and play Maryland this year.

This is a terrible choice. Southern, SLU or anyone would have been preferable, at least pick a regional FCS team.

Frack me...yeah they did. I must have been exhausted by the time I got to the last two years after seeing the eight previous ones. Thanks, Ghostface...

this paves the way for LSU to put Valparaiso on the schedule soon

after all, they have to prove there's an easier rent-a-win than Towson.

This may be the worst opponent to ever play in our stadium

Tulane isn't even the second best college in the state(football wise) so why should we travel to play them?

I cringed at this news. Does the 2012 non-conference schedule need to be completed before the start of this season? Since the '12 conference slate hasn't been released, I guess the uncertainty about what lies in October makes it safe to schedule a virtual bye week. Maybe they had to dig deep for an FCS team with the flexibility to play in late September. But still...Towson.
