Dude,’really?
Yes, really. If you talk to any coach in the SEC, they all respect the hell out of him.
He is a very good play caller. The only question is the scheme. We don't know what to expect, other than that he plans to throw more than we have in the past. Given the RBs we have v. the WRs we have, that seems like a logical start. I'm just not going to get worried about a guy who has coached offensive football for 36 years and who has told us all that he plans to structure his offense around the players we have and their skill sets.
Ultimately, the offense is going to go as far as the QB can take us. If Burrow is the real deal, we could be special. If Burrow is bad, it's going to be a long year.
I have no worry about Slinger at all.

Sammy you really are just a MISERABLE individual in life. This isn't a keyboard warrior talking, it is the truth. You have bashed E continuously, and are so worked up over being right that e sucks, that you have zero objectivity. Just a MISERABLE person.

I agree with the overall negativity getting old and people completely not giving the coaching staff a chance being dumb. But, simply having a fee concerns isn't what you're making it out to be in this thread.

If our offensive line holds up I actually think this team can be dangerous. That being said, it looks to be one of our weak points going into the season. Losing Ingram was something we could ill afford.

The extremes you guts go to in order to paint a negative picture. Most would say he did a damn good job taking over an offense that wasn't even his. Had some damn good play calling, which many players think he is great at btw. Let's us know he is capable. Even aranda thinks he has a great offensive mind. But instead of letting it play out, you miserable fricks gonna beat a dead horse to his second death. frick man. Try to enjoy instead of always glass half empty.
Extremes? Riiiiiiiiight.
He called plays in 2016 against the following. The 2 above average defenses he faced resulted in losses. Plus he was running a scheme he knew well. Now Ed has him implementing spread concepts that are just that. They're only concepts to Steve because he's never run that type of offense.
Mizzou (W) 418yds rushing
South. Miss (W) 459yds total (Etling's 2nd best game. 276yds 3 TDs)
Ole Miss (W) 311yds rushing
Bama (L) Shutout
Arkansas (W) 390yds rushing
Florida (L) 423yds total
Aggy (W) Guice rushed for almost 285yds and took over the game. Etling's best game of his life. 20/28 324yds against a terrible Aggy defense.
Louisville (W) Defense controlled the day. Guice took over again. Etling was average.

I started this. It was a reaction to all of the negativity.
To be clear, having concerns is of course fine. Wanting to see it on the field first is fine. Wishing we had gone to an OC with a more recent track record at the spot at other schools is fair (although the history of hot OCs flopping is pretty rich).
But the narrative that Ensminger is in over his head is really getting old. He's a hell of a coach and a hell of a play caller. Let's at least see the scheme before running him out of town.

1. You don’t fricking know me in, guy. I allow Myself to be overly emotional about LSU football because it’s more fun.
2. People are trying to hard to convince themselves he’s a brilliant play caller,
And really he ran all over teams with shitty defenses.
Now we don’thave 2 NFL ready RBs.

I'll just throw this out there, what if Myles beats out Burrow? Not that it would say that Burrow was bad, but that the light has come on for Myles B. This would mean that we have a truly great situation. Here's to watching some Great Tiger football this year. Geaux Tigers

1. Yes, we lost to Florida but the overall offensive performance was solid. If Guice goes the right way, you lose this talking point.
2. Bowl game - we beat them by 20 points! The offensive played extremely well and we went conservative in the 4th when we were up 20 and Louisville was stymied.
3. So he didn't have the answers against Bama in 2016 when Etling couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. That's all you have.
4. Ensminger has been an offensive coach for 36 years. Let's not pretend the spread concepts are rocket science. He is designing a scheme to play to the strength of the offense.

This team will win the SEC this year

Or maybe you figure out a way to attack a defense missing 7 starters?

That Louisville defense was terrible. The offense did just enough and the defense was stupid good.

He kept trying deep passed with a QB that proved all year he couldn't hit them.

He's been a QB/TE coach. He hasn't put his own playbook together in over 20 years. The one he's putting together this year is a system he's never played in or run in his life. How is it that hard to believe, as a fan, there is cause to be slightly worried about the offense?

Everything is forgiven in a win, but when you don’t win people look at how you were inside the 10 twice and didn’t score.
“The offense was solid”. Cool we scored 10 points in a game. Clearly there were some issues.
Basically we had trouble in 2016 when we couldn’t run all over a team and people limited out big plays.

Ensminger is highly respected in coaching circles
What circles are these because I have never heard one fricking thing about E until O made him OC in 2016. Being a respected coach doesn't mean he's a good OC.
I don't think he's garbage, but his career as an OC, that had ended twenty years ago, wasn't a very successful one.
And can we pump the brakes a little on this defense until we see them play a game? I swear, we build something up and build it up to the point that its the greatest ever to only eat it whole if it turns out to be only top 10.
Why cant we hope to have both a good defense and a good offense which leads to a ten win season or maybe better?

It's slightly worrisome that the fate of the offense is held in Ed and Ensminger's hands
100% honesty here--I'm much happier with the fate of the offense in their hands and Joe Burrow than ancient offense Les Miles and Brandon Harris, and the NFL-level-defense comparison looks to be the same this year like it was in '16 when it was supposed to be the year to make a run for the 'ship.

Ol' Slinger has been around this program for a long time, so he knows good offense. Trust in E and O and it'll all work out.
