What has to happen to get that? Are we locked in to that, you think, regardless of SEC tournament?

I think just lose in SECTCG or win it and we could fight for a 1 seed.

This bracket is really good. Texas Tech is a 3 seed I don’t mind.

I think we are almost a lock to go out west if we remain a 2 seed. They’ll keep Michigan st, unc/duke, and Tennessee/Kentucky close to home.

Assuming no major surprises elsewhere, I think our most likely overall seed is the 8-10 range, which is why a lot of brackets are giving us the 2 seed in Zaga's bracket (presumed #1 overall seed). Teams we're competing against for that last 2nd seed:

Michigan
Tennessee
Texas Tech
Houston

We need to root for those teams to lose.

I've heard on local radio (Lafayette) that for us to have gotten a #1 seed we would have had to be able to play both Kentucky and Tennessee and beat both in the tourney.

Since that cannot happen, I think we win two games and we are a 3 seed for, maybe a 2. Win it all and definitely get a 2 seed.

Lunardi has us in Jacksonville. Does that mean he has us as a higher 2 seed?

Good synopsis.

Unless complete chaos happens, I can't see LSU dropping any lower than a #3.

IMO, (and this is contingent upon the other teams we are competing with):

1. Loss in the 1st round of SECT = 3 seed
2. 1-1 in SECT (if the win is vs. Florida) = likely 2 seed
3. 2-1 in SECT = 2 seed
4. Win SECT = hard to say LSU shouldn't be a #1 seed

Bingo. If LSU loses Friday they’re a 3 seed.

Make the semis it’s a tossup but they’d have a strong shot at a 2.

Make the final they’re a 2.

Win the final you’re obviously a 2 but the committee would at least have to talk about LSU and a 1 seed that afternoon. It would take some upsets and losses but the committee would have to talk about LSU.

Definitely not locked in, there's a ton of moving parts so it's not just about what we do, but all those teams in the 1-3 seed range and what they do in the conference tournaments.

We could go 1-1 in the SEC tournament but if basically every team around us makes their conference final game we would definitely be more a 3 seed than 2 seed. On the flip side we could go 1-1 and if most teams seeded 1-3 now lost their first game in the conference tourneys we would could likely be a 2 seed.

I will say according to bracket matrix has us a the #1 3 seed right now. If we make the SECT final (keep in mind, only 2 wins to get there), I see little reason we shouldn't be a 2 seed so long as literally all those other teams around us dont all do that well as well, if we win it all, no question we will be a 2 seed. IF we lose first game, I would think we're a 3 seed, but again, if all those 3 and even 4 seeds go really deep, no telling that maybe we could potentially even drop to a 4?

Always have to factor the FBI thing as well how that could change our seeding, for instance if they dont play Smart through SECT, do they see us differently if they think he may not play in NCAAT?
