so what's wrong with that? when I look at their schedule the only game you can count as a loss is their last game which is @ bama and that being a rivalry you can't even count that one. They host Clemson, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, & LSU. They should be favored in all of those. They travel to Miss St, UK, Ole Miss, & bama as i mentioned before. Will probably be favored in all of those except Bama.

1. Auburn will not be favored in every game besides bama.

2. It takes more then a favorable schedule to win the SEC West...you also need a defense.

If LSU's schedule looked like that you would say they're going to run the table.

No i wouldn't....but LSU would have a better shot than Auburn.

Auburn and Arkansas will have two of the 3 worst defenses in the division.

probably not, but I don't know what other games they will be underdogs in. Maybe you can tell me.

You're right. They may not finish 1st, but I feel pretty sure they'll finish ahead of LSU unless there is much improvement from last year.

I agree with you on this. The point is Auburn's schedule is very favorable and LSU's is not.

Arkansas, yes. Unless Mallet chokes which he is known to do.

Im not sure why some are so high on Auburns offense though. Unproven, inexperienced QBs don't tend to do so well in the SEC.

they can run the ball or at least they could last year. that tends to help inexperienced qbs a lot.

What is it with everybody saying that Auburn is going to have this fantastic offense? I am not saying that they will suck but this QB is new is he not? Kinda like saying Florida will win an NC because Brantley will be a world beater or that Texas will win the National Championship because of this new QB they have (who did atleast play some last year in one game).

LSU's offense was ranked near the bottom of the entire nation last year. One thing no one on here should be questioning or talking about is another team's offense (unproven qb or not).

Not really. The Tigers were seen as no better than the third or fourth best team going into the '01 and '03 seasons and they only won two SEC titles, two Sugar Bowls and a BCSNC. It's still the end of the season that matters most people. It's o.k to feel good about a consensus branding of number three after the team failed to be the third best team in the conference for the past two seasons. I'd have to say that honor went to Ole Mrs. Being ranked in the top three or four teams pre-season in the SEC typically means that people think if you catch a break or two you could wind up in the BCS bowl scenario. In fact I can recall only one year ('07)in this past decade run when the Tigers were the consensus pre-season best team in the league. I know many will point to '06 as well but I recall Auburn and Florida both getting equal billing with LSU.

Absolutely no doubt about that. I can't argue that. I look at Aurburn the same way I do LSU when it comes to offense. We have the talent and atleast a tested QB but it all will depend on him as to our success. Same with Auburn, how good will an untested QB come into the SEC and play?

Ole Miss gets a pretty favorable schedule (vandy, KY, UT from east). MSU is improved

Think you sold both of those well short... and no way in hell a team with the worst defense in the SEC last year (auburn) catapults to the top of the tougher division in teh SEC

maybe so, but looking at the schedule thats how i think it will play out. I overlooked MSU hosting UK. I'll go back and change that to a 'W'.

well i have to pick someone to win the division and I think they have the best chance. i'm no expert by any means. they may finish last. it's wide open.

This is how you can tell when someone is a "Since Saban" fan. If you can't remember when people were happy about being 3rd best then you haven't been a fan long enough.

By the way, realistically, 3rd in the nation's best conference still ain't bad at all. You are right that it is not where we want to be. But being predicted to finish 3rd actually means that we are predicted to be in contention. That is all that anyone can ask for 40 or so days prior to opening kick-off.

Would it mean any more if we were predicted to finish 1st? Not really at this stage of the game.

It doesn't matter if LSU is predicted to finish dead last, since it is settled on the field. What these polls do tell us is that the public perception of LSU is pretty weak if it cannot jump a Bama team that loses most of its defense and a Florida team that loses possibly the best leader and QB combination in memory. It tells me there is virtually nothing LSU can do currently, even with the returning skill position players it has to sway the public perception.
