I was thinking about the thread someone posted a few days ago about the 1970 LSU / Notre Dame game that the Irish won 3-0 in a defensive struggle. If the Nov. 5 game ends as a 3-0, or even 6-3 final score, I think it may help the chances of a rematch in the BCSNC. I think a lot of voters in the polls would be more inclined to put LSU and Bama in a position to force a rematch with a low scoring defensive slugfest.

Thoughts?

Well I don't know. The media can be stupid.

I've seen them say before in games that "if this game is a low scoring game I'll probably drop X in the polls"

As if a low scoring defensive struggle somehow means that both teams suck

There should not be a rematch regardless of who wins. If you don't win your division you shouldn't be in the championship game. It would suck if LSU lost 3-0 and that was it. But that's how stuff works.

Precedent has been set. Tigers lost 3-0 to Bama in 1979. Same year as the USC epic match up. Pretty awesome home schedule that year.

The ND game in 1970 was a classic. I remember we were at Six Flags in Houston, TX that Sat. and we stayed in the hotel room for the entire game and listened on the radio!

I think modern day football w the spreading of the field and potential for big plays every down prohibits such low scoring games from happening very often - if EVER!

Besides, LSU's offense has been very productive and potent just like Alabama's. Expect double digit points by both teams no matter how good the defenses are. 17-14 LSU is good for me.

If rainy conditions could be a sub 10 point game. Remember 2005 Auburn 10 - 9 and 2006 7 - 3. This may well be that kind of game but LSU has more explosive players and expect a 17 - 6 win by the Tigers.
