How likely are the 'waivers'?? Bc man we need some size infusion.

I can see Smart, Thomas, Manning, Days, Watford as our initial starting 5

Will Wade on AFR, just said both Gray and Johnson signed with LSU. Josh Gray has been practicing for 2 weeks now!

I think, this is as deep of a roster as we have had in a long time.

Should be a fun season.

How do we feel about the two SG? That seems to be our weakest spot, assuming that we get a waiver for either or both of the big men.

ETA: I guess my real question is do we expect Cam Thomas to start day 1?

Very good. Manning showed what he was capable of before he got hurt. Cam Thomas is a scoring machine.

I’m not sure why you feel this way

Cam Thomas is only one of the best scorers to ever come out of Oak Hill Academy

Wade just stated on AFR that he is extremely confident in getting a waiver for Penn-Johnson and they are confident they will get one for O’Neal. But said LeBlanc is more of a tossup and they’ll have to see what NCAA does.

He was being a little evasive on the reasons for confidence with Penn-Johnson. But he made it seem like it was a mutual parting of ways b/w he and Washington and that there are some underlying reasons there that NCAA is likely to grant a waiver for. O’Neal confidence probably stems from using medical reasons and the coaching change reason. Plus having Shaq as his father can’t hurt.

Good thing on LeBlanc is that at worst he is eligible mid season before start of SEC play even without waiver; so he’ll still contribute greatly to this team.

I think SG is our strongest position group. Expect really good production from Manning and Thomas.

Who plays the point when Smart is not on the floor?

I think Gaines and cook can play point when smart is not the floor Eric Gaines has been getting ja morant comparisons and cook can shoot the ball pretty well

Tbh, I was ignorant on how highly touted Thomas is. I like Manning as a rotational player, but I’m not sure he’s a legit starter on a top 10 team.

We know what we’re getting in Smart, Watford, and days and I think all three can play really well at times. If Thomas is that dude from day 1 and one of the big men can play defense and rebound, this team looks like a contender.

I really hope Manning stays healthy this year. The defense was so much better when he was on the floor.

Yep, manning is also our best on ball defender, he was just hitting a groove with the team when he got his injury last season, I think he will be big time for us next season
