I think Manning will come off the bench, but definitely play starter minutes. The only reason I see him coming off the bench is to stagger minutes with Javonte better so that one of the two is always on the floor as a veteran capable ball handler.
Our backcourt should be really really good. Thomas has the accolades, but Gaines is a stud too. And I'm excited to see if Mwani can carve himself a role on this squad. I don't expect him to play a ton of minutes, but Wade really seemed to like his work ethic.

Rothstein’s presicted starting 5 is Smart, Thomas, Manning, Watford, Days.
That’s some serious talent + experience. This season better happen.

Yea, I don't see a scenario that Manning doesn't start.

I probably should have specified, I'm curious as to which one of the Fresh get the minutes, Cook or Gaines.

Manning is not a ball handler.
I like Manning; mostly b/c of his blue-collar work ethic and tough defense. Plus his 3 pt shot was starting to come around before he went down for the season. But he is not a reliable ball handler and I would be holding my breath in those situations.
Smart will be in a rotation with Cook and Gaines, with both rotating in some for Thomas at times too. You can also see Manning shift to the 2 with Smart at the 1 if LSU wants to go big at times.

I think Gaines is the favorite rn and personally wouldnt be shocked if at some point he passes up Smart in minutes

Manning isn't a lead guard by any means and he's not going to slice up a defense. I wouldn't ask him to do that. I just mean that he's a guy you can trust back there if you need help getting the ball up the floor. We struggled way too much fighting presses without him last year.
"Ball handler" may have been the wrong word. Just a steady vet who plays calm and makes the right read and pass when the freshmen are out there.

Come on man. The guy is building some hype and I think a lot of fans are excited for his future; but don’t go full fanatic this early in the year.
Most basketball prognosticators have Smart rated as the top 1 or 2 returning PG in the SEC this season. Gaines is not surpassing him in minutes.
Additionally, Wade has said himself that Gaines has a little ways to go physically before being ready to play a lot of minutes in the SEC.

LSU waiting to hear on the waiver for BPJ now apparently
Yeah. Wade said on a radio interview earlier that they are “extremely...confident” in getting the waiver for Penn-Johnson and confident they’ll be able to get one for O’Neal too.

Leblanc is a PF/C type
Hoping the guys get eligible, we'll be pretty thin at the big spot if not

I agree LeBlanc at the 4 is needed...maybe at the 5 on occasion.
I think some people may mistake O’Neal as a physical power forward if they haven’t seen him play. He seems to have more finesse than a traditional power forward to me.

Manning is to good not to start. You can put him on any teams best player guard wise.

This is what I see considering we really dont have a true C Wade wanted to plug in right away. I tihnk if Penn-Johnson gets eligible he can play some minutes but not sure I see him playing 25 minutes out the gate, maybe more like in that 10-15 range and Gray playing about 5 a game or so.
