Question, I never played outfield. I have heard balls smoked right at the outfielder are the hardest to field. Is that true?
I played college baseball for a great coach and the first step an outfielder should make on a ball like that is an open drop step with either the right or left foot, depending on the read of the ball. That is key to catching a ball like that. When you take that drop step, you run with your head down to a point then look up to find the ball. If the ball happens to be over the other shoulder, in one step, you rotate your head, trying to stay on the straight line.
I had a ball just like that when we played Ms. State. I caught the ball and collided with the fence. This was way back in 1991.

Same as a infielder on high pop ups. You have to run to a side to get an angle on the ball. Once you see the angle run to the spot you know where it will come down and camp under it, unless the wind plays havoc.

Why dive at that one catcher
He BARELY kept it out of the dugout. If it gets there, Milazzo gets home for free. It was a wonderful effort.

Braswell slow
Overall this is one of the slower LSU teams in awhile but maybe my perspective is skewed because Paul just recruited 5’10 165 lb guys and became accustomed to having a team full of guys that can run

He tried to hit that first pitch to a different time zone
I'm convinced he has some NIL deal we don't know about that says he gets something significant if he hits the first pitch 20 yards over the fence
