It was inevitable in the next couple of years (if not sooner).

Think Denbrock going to ND best outcome for all.

Lose Denbrock. Sloan is an up and coming name. Sloan gives you the best chance to reel in Underwood.

LSU has the best position coaches in the country on the offensive side of the ball. If LSU keeps Sloan, Hankton, and Davis, we’re going to be just fine.

I agree. We may have kept Sloan for 1 more year--he was going to be an OC or maybe even HC at a smaller school (I think he was offered the ULM job the year they hired Bowden). I would rather have 37-year-old Sloan and his future over 59-year-old Denbrock and his. Not saying I like Denbrock leaving and wouldn't prefer both, but OP is right that we realistically were only gonna be able to keep 1 longer than 1 more season. And I'd prefer it be Sloan.

Yes, and it happened in a way that ND is paying LSU $2M. If we had to lose Denbrock, this is not a bad way for it to happen.

If Sloan did, hypothetically, follow then Kelly has just watched the best part of the LSU program (offense) match the worst part of the LSU program (defense) without making any changes to the defense at all to date.

Isn't Denbrock's buyout like 375k?

Sloan has never coached outside of the south, and has been settled in Louisiana since 2013 between Tech & LSU. Going home is the only reason Denbrock is leaving LSU.

Denbrock may be content being an OC. If Sloan has success as OC here I think he goes back to being a HC much quicker.

Great teams have to replace coordinators quite often, but I thought Denbrock would stick a while. Oh well.

I’d much rather Denbrock and his weak short yardage calls walk and Sloan stay

Dembrock. Sloan is a qb savant and he's only going to get better and become a head coach one day.

I’m guessing this has been in the works for a little while. Hate to see him leave but I’m sure BK has been looking for his replacement. At least Denbrock waited til after signing day to announce his departure.

It always seems the offensive players give Sloan the credit before Denbrock. Hopefully he’ll fill in and be great.
