re: Looks Like Ford is Odd Man Out

Les is a damn good coach and I AM POSITIVE that he knows more about football than I do and has better judgment than I do. However, there is NO DOUBT that he makes mistakes and ALL PEOPLE allow personalities to affect their on the field decisions. He did so with Keiland. Keiland should have played more period. I don't know what's going on with Ford but he is damn talented. Didn't Blue have his carries against weak teams?

So, what's this about him sucking at blitz pickup compared to everyone else? Sounds like the same thing I heard about Keiland Williams, when in reality, Keiland ran with vision-and to daylight-and Larry Porter is one of the worst running backs coaches in America in that respect.
Just as people have made up the "Miles hates speed and loves power" argument around KW and now Ford, there has been a lot of made up excuses about fumbling and game knowledge.
For KW its pretty simple, if you watch the game tape between a great 07VT game and a good senior year, he wasn't good at getting to the next level in the limited carries he got. He couldn't consistently find the hole, elude the first tackler, or break the first tackle. I would assume that similar worries are there about Ford.
But it was never just about fumbles, protection, being a bruiser, or being a speed back. Its just about maximizing whatever your skill set is on EVERY run so that Miles and company feel they can count on you for some amount of yardage every time you touch the ball.

Now, as far as the academic issues, send me a link to what you're referencing, or let me know where you've "heard" it from.
You remember Ford playing in the spring game? Neither does anybody else. He had to sit out to "focus on academic." Search yourself, there are likely hundreds of stories on this. But feel free to believe in the "Miles doesn't play the best players due to some unknown bias that goes against his own best interest..." conspiracy.

that's amazing magee number 2.
People on the recruiting board were touting him the whole recruiting process and though he had the potential to be the better than Hilliard and Hill.

Which holds no water in this case, as Michael Ford is the strongest player on the entire team.
The dude's gonna play. Everyone just relax.

The amount of people on here whose either bias or lack of intellect prevent them from grasping this is boggling.

Ford actually started at the scrimmage and got as many carries as Ware. Plus caught 2 passes and dropped one. Not sure where his depth chart came from. Based on Scrimmage hes solid #2 IMO

Might Magee, who was recruited as a quarterback by schools such as Oregon and Mississippi State, hope LSU Coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Gary Crowton have a few option passes or perhaps Wildcat plays in mind for him?

I know, Gary Crowton. Old article. Still...

There's no way he's not one of the 2 or 3 most talented RBs. What is going on that he's the 5th RB at LSU?

Talent doesn't always mean playing time. Ware had one great game and all of a sudden is the best back we have. I wonder what he was on depth chart prior to first game last year.

Miles did not apply an order to the four backs mentioned. The author of the article took it upon himself to do that.
Glen can even be a douche while quoting someone else's words.
I would agree it is about motivating Ford.

Ford misses blocking assignments regularly, according to Shay Hicks.

The reason Ford isn't being singled out right now is because of his academic standing. Miles does this covertly, albeit not very good, to his players when they aren't applying themselves in the classroom. RS10 went through this already. When Ford earns Miles trust back in the classroom, Ford will be 1b to Ware's 1a. Simple as that.

I disagree. The media is not allowed at practice so somebody leaked to the media that I fumbled on the time in practice and that was the reason I never played. This hurt my chances at being drafted and cost me millions of dollars. BTW, I fumbled once in my entire LSU career and I recovered it.
Signed KW
You can blame the KW fiasco on Larry Porter all you want but: FACT 1) he is no longer here, FACT 2) it is happening again to another kid.

How dare the head coach list the top performing backs based on what they have shown so far and not by what they may be capable of.

No it's not.
Michael Ford was on the field as a RS Freshman and is the solid #2 according to people that have seen practice and saw the scrimmage.
Again, this article is bullshite.

Yep.
Miles want Ford to focus on academics and work harder on the field. He is too good to leave out of the rotation.
