They never officially said what it was but Sonny had an article on 247 a month ago saying he’d probably be out to start the season

If we keep getting Ohio State transfers, will the saints finally start drafting LSU players???

Nay. Good pickup, though. Happy to get him. I hope we still pull a CB1 out of the portal next spring.

He is a much needed addition and at the least needed depth. Nobody can say he is the #1 CB at this time. There has to be a major reason why he was passed up on the OS depth chart and didn’t play last season. Kelly promised him he could come in and compete and hopefully will become the starter

You got to do what you got to do. But I look forward to when are CB1 (and 2-4) are kids (probably mostly in-state) that we recruited, signed and developed instead of Ohio State’s seldom used backups.

The last transfer from OSU who had been passed over on a deep position roster worked out ok.

False. Sevyn Banks did not do well here.

I think JK Johnson is the last transfer from OSU who had been passed over on a deep position roster

I don't know what formula PFF uses to grade players so I can't say why it would be that low. This was the game both OSU corners were injured. Both Jyaire Brown and JK Johnson were the starting cornerbacks for this game. OSU was down to three scholarship corners. Now after watching what Wisconsin/Moredcai as well as Mertz and Sun Belt Billy did to Sage and company; I think I will take my chances Brown and Johnson any day of the week.

This was the write up on Brown yesterday. How they get Sage's PFF numbers and his PFF numbers is a mystery to me.
In 2022, Brown ranked second in reception percentage (38.5%) among all Big Ten cornerbacks with at least 100 defensive snaps last season, according to PFF. Brown was targeted 13 times and gave up five catches for 61 yards. He was penalized just once, and he didn’t concede a touchdown pass.

I’m not saying either is right or wrong. But it’s easy to slant stats.

I think the main point here is the comment regarding him being a plug in starter & better than Sage Ryan is ignorant.

It’s easy to get excited but a lot of times it’s the basic context that tells the truth in these situations.

Guys leaving high profile P5 programs are usually better suited playing down, vs moving laterally. If this guy wasn’t playing at OSU, chances are LSU isn’t striking gold. The same theory has proven true for most kids leaving lsu due to playing time.

In LSUs case they really just need to keep throwing darts with guys that have actually played in college games. So I don’t hate it. I’m just not expecting greatness.
