At this point our main concern should be just keeping the few we have left and develop them.

Not a DL, but Caleb Roddy may.

Glen Logan

This.

He's 6-4 and 315, which is about average for what they have at guard right now, and if Justin Thomas has already passed him up he's not set for a whole lot of playing time in the near future.

They really need to look at either Roddy or Pettigrew at tackle. They don't need all these kids at tight end and can certainly spare one.

Depth wise we aren't really in position to move a DL to OL.

You realize we only have 5 DL with game experience?

Agree.
Not a DL.

Move one of the bigger "blocking" te.

Both the DL and the OL are light on total numbers much less proven depth. 11 OL and 3 have good experience. Brunfield has been around awhile and Campbell and Magee have played some snaps but nothing significant. 5 others who have yet to play a snap and will be forced to play some now perhaps before they are ready. Not to mention guys that bust.

DL has 11 as well for 2 less spots, but also a position group that rotates much more. Loc, Gilmore, and Herron probably have the most snaps and Lawrence and Alexander looked good as back ups. I'm not worried about them. Clark is a senior with one letter. The other 5 haven't played a snap. See above....and injuries could kill this team in these two groups. Of course LSU has walk ons I admire these guys, but come on as far as having to play in the SEC at these two position groups.

Plenty of walkons to play guard. If they get to that point it won't matter.

Well if they continue to waste the athletic ability and career of Caleb Roddy they might as well make him a OT. He is no pass catching TE and Aranda has recruited more smaller an athletic tight ends to fit his system.

Roddy is the perfect candidate right now.

Thank you for mentioning this about Caleb Roddy moving to the offensive line. I believe he is a good enough athlete to get a serious look at offensive tackle, then a player or two projected to be tackles could be moved to guard.

I had mentioned about Roddy moving to OL a few times on the rant before, but received no response.

It is worth mentioning that we only have 4 TEs, too. Moving Roddy brings us down to 3.

The kid is 6'5" and fairly athletic at that size. But, we're talking about him putting on another 25 pounds or so - then he would still be pretty svelte for an OT - 6'5" and right at 3 bills.

Are his arms long enough? Can his frame hold 300 pounds? Is he strong enough?

Typically a change of position takes about a year. I think that would be true of Roddy trying to play tackle.

Canada had a converted TE on his line at Pitt. Wouldn't think any DLine gets the switch before a TE
