Idk how you can say out coached.
They had some things go their way like that insane catch the UK Guy made and landed on an LSU player to stay in bounds. You can’t even make that stuff up I’ll give it to you that we messed up by fumbling and interceptions.
But the only thing we didn’t have an answer for was pressuring their QB and prevent defense.

Imo the worst call of the night, defense stood up big time just to get hosed
Yep, outstanding stop even with the entire OL over or past the ball and they got robbed.
Could feel how significant it was too. Another TD just before half exactly like in Oxford.
Tough to overcome a good team, a great crowd, and absolute arse for refs on the road.

Why was the no runner assistance rule abolished in the first place?
It was impossible to enforce.

No it wasn't. It was easy. If an offensive player is touching the ball carrier, pretty easy to see the runner assistance.

How is this not blown dead?
I looked up the rule on this for forward progress on the goal line.
Once he loses his footing and he is not moving forward FP is marked and play should be called dead. I am not sure what it would be if he had no footing and was just being pushed.
One place we screwed up on that play was to get under the runner and/or get a reverse push on the ball itself.

Refs don’t know how to call the play
You have to reward the defense if they stop it like in that instance
Forward progress was clearly stopped

You asked the question and I gave you the answer I got when I searched on the rule… sorry you did not agree

It was by the right side line judge as he came in, and also another shot by the other line judge, but after the play was obviously blown dead, they allowed a final push which barely got the ball over. Just one of many examples where Ky got more than the benefit of the doubt. That was not a TD in TS

My apologies. Fair enough. Thanks for the answer.
I just don't remember any discussion of the reasons at the time.

IIRC the explanation was the committee abandoned the runner assistance penalty because of a poor consistency of application.

They missed 2 field goals and 2 of our TD's came on trick plays. They dominated us for most of the night
They definitely didn't dominate us as the stats showed, but they were more resilient and made less stupid mistakes. Their two missed FGs were blown opportunities, but LSU had an idiotic fumble at the worst time and LSU had a lot more penalties, so both teams made mistakes

I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat:
Assisting the ball carrier was once a penalty. Now it is allowed.
So if the carrier is stopped and the offense can assist by pushing him forward until he is on the ground, then it seems that the defense should be able to continue to push the ball carrier backwards until he is down.
Can’t stand the rugby play in Football( Not Futbol
