I think this may be the last position player that we bring in, unless some incoming recruits bail. The talk was that we were after another OF, but Priester serves the dual purpose of shoring up the catcher position and providing another potential OF. I think we probably still go for another couple of big pitchers, though.

There may be a lack of a true ace on this staff but I’m starting to feel good about the depth. Wish Labas would’ve stuck around but there’s a whole lot of guys who can give you two rounds through the order. You can win a lot games like that while waiting for that “ace” to show himself.

You might even run into a situation like Arkansas this year where your true ace is a bullpen guy who can throw multiple times across a weekend.

I'd like to see a dominant closer on this team, maybe it's Paul Gervase! Coach Kelly will have some toys to play with for sure!

Several candidates for closer after the rotation works itself out.

If Fontenot doesn’t cement himself into the starting rotation I think he can be that guy. If Kelly can fine tune that slider and give him the ability to land it in any count he’s going to be dominant in one role or another.

this is a good post and i'll add that crazy things happen in reverse of what you're proposing if I remember MSST had a fireballer this year, I'm sorry I can't remember his name, start the season in the rotation or contending for a spot in the rotation who ended up being left off the post-season travel squad.

Yes. Eric Cerantola. 24 K's in 17 innings. Pretty good. 11 walks in 17 innings. Not so good. And I think he was drafted in the top 5 rounds.

Was Travinski's injury a rotator cuff? Was it the throwing shoulder? Sorry, I don't remember.

the amount of kids who are going to be processed is going to be scary to watch. we're going to lose quite a few players who have contributed for years, alot of which are Louisiana kids, grew up LSU fans. it is what it is, but it will be interesting
