Unglesby is a great attorney...I have known him for 35 years. He is trying to put out JJ's story and influence the DA who said this morning that he will bring the case to the Grand Jury. They will conduct their own investigation and issue a true bill on non true bill on the charges. If they do not find the evidence to convict...JJ's charges are dropped....JJ can appear before the jury if he so chooses....

I do not believe they BRPD did a very good job on this....it takes five days minimum to process DNA so we knw that is not back yet...did not interview witnesses at Shady's....wonder if the polygraphed anyone....

Now this is the BRPD who used to wear their sidearms on a lanyard over their shoulders (copying the Royal Mounted Police in Canada). The uniforms were changed when entirely too many of them shot themselves while removing their guns...Perhaps the most inept police department in any city in America....

Jj may be guilty and if he is...lSU needs to show him the door....but there seems to be a lot of conflict in the evidence...

I am shocked that some have tried to inject "race" into this issue...I really feel for JJ and John's families and wish them a quick resolution to this mess...

In the view of public perception if he can keep LSU and Jordan Jefferson to be mentioned in the same sentence he wins.

If JJ is dismissed from the football game and LSU/Football Progams seems to distance themselves from JJ then it changes the public perception and leaves JJ hanging in the wind.

Unglesby wants to use JJ's association with LSU football and its popularity as both a Sword and a Shield in the battle for public perception of JJ.

Hopefully clearing JJ of the charges is his first priority. I don't think he should be so concerned with his position on the team right now. If the university says no, then that's the way it should be. Pressuring LSU to allow him back on the team is not a good move IMO.
Yes, I agree. His right to fair treatment through the Justice system and the right to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty but he does not have a right to play football for LSU. That is not a right, its a privilege. The lawyer needs to focus on clearing him of the criminal charges 1st and worry about his status on the team later which he likely wouldn't have to fight for should he in fact be cleared of the charges. All this makes you realize that the big fight would not be over JJ just wanting to play but the implications it has on his pro career. I hate that it has come to this for College football. You know that lawyer is not planning that kind of a fight unless there is substantial money at stake becaue he sure isn't going to go to battle with that kind of fervor just for the sake of JJ enjoying his last year of college.

He's gonna push through the University to get JJ reinstated regardless of the havoc it would create.

frick Ungelsby then...how about putting the team and the university first.

This is not about JJ playing football anymore - it should be about keeping him out of jail and about keeping a felony off his record...football needs to be the last thing either should be worrying about.

Not very confidence inspiring for his client, no? And, when questioned, he specifically said he would not sue LSU.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing in your view?

Unless the charges are dropped, I don't see how he could convince LSU to reinstate JJ. I'm not even sure I would want them to with felony charges pending against him.

Les has already stated that JJ could not properly concentrate on football as long as he has the worry of defending himself against the charge.

Bingo. Do you really think the LSU administration wants the "felon" reference on national TV every time their team takes the field.

He will never see another play at LSU as a player.

He's not a convicted felon. And if he's not convicted or he pleads down, I'd bet he will be reinstated to the team later this season.

The University offers scholarships. At any time they can be pulled. The University owes no student or athlete any explanation....It is a privilege to attend LSU on an athletic scholarship, not a right.

Jordan and Josh knew the rules. They chose the road, now they have to walk it.

Isn't Ungelsby a defense attorney for Murder trials usually? If he is the same guy I think you are talking about, he is going to run circles around the police department, D.A., and LSU when it comes to legal matters. If it is possible to get JJ back on the team, that guy will do it.

This is the problem with people here. If this continues to drag on, the season is toast. Book it. Les did what was good for the team and if JJ and JJ push back, they will only be hurting the team and their teammates. They should be worrying about the charges and just let the team move on without them right now.

The idiocy in the OP is just insane. First of all JJ has been suspended he has not been kicked off the team. There is a very very small chance that JJ is not the kicker but to think that there is a conspiracy where the real kicker is known but JJ is the scapegoat is way past stupid.

I think it would be more disturbing to find out that the players were covering for someone and letting JJ take the fall.

Where do you idiots come up with this shite?

In my mind, that's like not passing a law to outlaw coal plants but using the EPA to issue rules to put them out of business.

You know what's funny about this?

There's not a single statement in the entire OP about a conspiracy where the real kicker is known but JJ is the scapegoat.

Wasn't Unglesby part of Edwin Edwards' defense team when the feds knew they had something on that crooked a-hole?

The second kicker flead to the grassy knoll so fast no camera could catch him.
