I think it was Angel Hernandez in disguise.

He basically couldn’t decide where the corners were. One inning he was tight the next loose. And the calls were more impactful against LSU but was bad both ways.

At the end of the game even the guys on 870 (or whatever station it was on here in Nola) said our pitchers overcame the home plate umpire

Or something like that

He also said the Wofford pitcher should just throw outside and it will get call a strike. LOL

he loved that shite that was off the corner of the plate and really low strikes

That was a huge problem because their starter was throwing sinkers and sliders that predominantly stayed low. The ump’s weakness really played to his advantage.

He was bad both halves of each inning, but directionally it always fricked LSU.

I think it fricked LSU because Wofford made it a point to keep pounding the area. I can't blame them. The same pitch in the same location would be called a strike, ball, strike, multiple times in the same AB

It was concerning, I remember one sequence where a good pitch was called a ball, then the next pitch, in the same spot, but a few inches lower, appeared ot be a ball, yet called a strike! I hate when umps are inconsistent!

I don’t often complain about ball/strike calls, but that Braswell “strike” three made me yell and curse.

He was indeed, really bad. Very amateurish, and frustrating to watch.

Doug always bitches about the ump, and I love him for it.

He was bad, but the main thing that screwed LSU was Gage wasn’t getting that sweeping slider call on the outside corner of the plate to lefties. That’s his out pitch and he got it maybe once today and plenty were strikes.

Kudos to Jump for pitching a phenomenal game despite his best pitch being neutered.

Strike zone was all over the place. But that’s sort of been every game I’ve watched today.
