The DB's have been bad during camp according to those who go. You can also watch the practice videos shared on social media yourself. They're getting straight up cooked by our receivers.

I don't think they're bad kids, just don't have a lot of confidence, passion, and swag right now. DB's need to have some FU in them. The raw talent is there though.

He said they weren’t good in individual drills but in team defense we’re playing better. You should probably listen to everything before melting.

I care far less about our DB's simply getting beat because they aren't that good than I do them getting beat for 70 yard TD's because they were on the wrong side of the field

There’s a big difference between being in a good position and the WR just makes a better play vs being “cooked”

From the VERY limited clips I’ve seen the DBs are in decent position but our receivers are making fantastic catches.

Yeah I did & haven’t seen that.
Stamps looks good, but sometimes the WR will make a good play. That’s why they call it a 50/50 ball.
PJ Woodland is competitive, JK Johnson is improving. Zy Alexander still working his way back.

Link to videos of these guys getting cooked every rep?

It’s the same DBs from the worst secondary in LSU history

You're right, freshmen can't develop at all. Its a myth.

he pretty much called the secondary being a disaster last year, so it's not good.

but should we take the wait and see approach or be alarmed?

Ok. Say you alarm yourself. What does that actually mean? Are you just going to constantly worry about our defensive backs and not have any focus on your personal life? Are you gonna start calling db’s at other schools and ask if they are interested in playing here?

There isn’t 1 single reason to give a shite about any practice reports during the summer. If our defense sucks again so what? I’ll hunt and fish on Saturdays instead of putting energy into that garbage.

Not sure how much experience or expertise Hunt has in football, but in these drills without a pass rush where they are on an island DBs almost always lose a vast majority of the reps. Not saying our guys are world beaters, but it's a pretty unfair situation.

offense wins most 1v1s across the board. They should, they’re more talented across the board.

Not only that, but they know which route they're running. There's no pressure on the QB, no help over the top...... the DB has to be 100% on just to be step for step with the WR. One misstep and they're already out of the play. Maybe at other schools it's different, but we're talking about LSU receivers.

You should actually listen or even just read this thread. He acknowledges this every time he speaks about it.

This is what Hunt said as well, seems like the OP rushed to make a thread without hearing the context behind the words.

No one said Hunt said this in this thread until after I posted I don't think, but I'm still just talking in general to the people on this board that freak out about this shite.

I like Hunt.

Sorry, you did. I gloss over your posts.

Offense is going to win just about every time in 1 on 1s with no pass rush. Now 11 on 11, there been good from what I've seen on video

They getting torched 1v1. In team sessions, they have been winning some battles and being competitive. .

I think people need to come to terms that our :DT spot and our DB spot (as predicted on paper by looking at the roster) are going to be very weak.

I think the best case scenario is you have a couple of young guys develop over the season. Until then, it's going to be a major weakness and our defense overall will be poor. Hopefully, at some point, we will see it solidify.

I know it's preseason, but I keep seeing people ignore the train coming down the tracks.

It seemed last year’s defense was lucky to get 2 stops per half. They were also terrible on 3rd downs. I expect stops per game to go up due to playing a lot more man coverage and being more aggressive period.

That said the offense is going to have a lot more 3 and outs than last year and regress a bit. That offense was as special as the defense was special Olympics special.

Too many reports of Nuss ints for this to be completely true. Or else Nuss is throwing some terrible passes to be intercepted by virtually nonexistent dbs
