We all know by now that Ensminger runs the offense but Linehan will have a big influence on the offense just like you’re alluding to. It’s comical that Buckeye keeps insinuating that this coaching hire is almost for the better interest of Linehan rather than for LSU.

I’m a big fan regarding the Pelini hire but I’ll admit that the new hiring of Linehan kind of has me scratching my head. One thing is certain though, Orgeron feels this guy can help his offense maintain the high level traction that it enjoyed this past season. Otherwise... He simply wouldn’t have brought Linehan to Baton Rouge.

I don’t know, but I will absolutely lose my shite if I ever see Brennan taking snaps from under center.

Except the fact that linehan has only been at one place more than three years before getting fired. To say he "may" be the perfect coach is silly. He "may" also set us back with our offense and recruiting as well.

Well, there better be some changes. Sure, no-one found a way to stop us this year but unless we continue to evolve, someone eventually will. Bama had us scouted pretty well on a few game situations, like on the quick snap bomb that they threw.

TBH, that's probably one of the biggest reason Aranda struggled at times. There was eventually so much film on him that he needed to evolve.

Brady's biggest impact may have been coaching the receivers, making them land so many catches in the off season, training them with blinders on, teaching them route running and option routes, helping our receivers consistently get separation, and other details of skills development.

When you listen to the receivers talking about their own development, they were almost as good at analyzing the defense as Burrow was and all of them being on the same page is what made the offense so lethal.

Does Linehan bring that skill? I don't know, but someone needs to replace that part of Brady's role.

Don't be silly. I'm not saying that at all.

I'm saying this:
1. LSU gets a highly skilled coach with 20+ years experience as an NFL OC.

2. Linehan gets to learn and coach the hottest passing scheme in the game of football - in college AND the NFL

It is a win-win for LSU and Linehan

Ok then. So why make it more of an issue than it is?

No one has even brought O’s name, aside from you. I don’t see anyone in this thread freaking out about the hire. Most things I’ve seen in this thread are actually optimistic.

So again, why make this out to be more an issue than it is? I think it’s a good hire. I don’t think we’ll see much of a deviation in the play calling.

Just let people have their own opinions on it. Geez man

You are arguing against yourself.

He is either going to learn the passing offense that Brady installed (right answer)

OR

He'll install a retro passing offense (wrong answer)

Jesus dude Ensminger is still the play caller like he was last year where Brady did some play calling (mostly in the redzone). Linehan is here to make sure our QBs are right, our QBs and skill players can understand these NFL route combinations, and just bring an air of professionalism to the offense like it was last year with Brady.

Read the except you quoted. The right answer is in there. Liehan won't be changing that beautiful passing offense. He'll be polishing it.

And, Ensminger said (in his presser after the Natty) that Brady called the 5-Wides, the Bunch, and the Red Zone.

2019 was a new offense to E, so that made sense. This season, it is a new offense to Linehan, So E will likely make many of the calls that Brady made in '19. This morning, O said that L will be called on to make some 3rd down & red zone calls.

It is common knowledge that Linehan has a wealth of NFL and college knowledge. What he doesn't have, is a knowledge of the Saints/LSU red-hot offense. And neither does most of the NFL OCs.

I thought you were leaving with Burrow. This is unfortunate

I honestly dont know what to expect but it seems as though he's been a loser everywhere he's been. People talk about age old or young, Joe Brady was hired based on potential and he soared, this guy here seems as though he's been a loser for decades and favors the old LSU style which would explain why Zeke had so many carries his first couple of years. While I understand that he isnt the OC, Im just curious to know what he told or showed Coach O to get the job! One can only hope that it works out because on paper this hire doesnt make sense at all!

He'll be fine. Last year was a transition year for the offense going spread, so all the position coach's responsibilities were magnified. The same playbook will be in play, same OC, same spread offense.

He interviewed for a job under Brady at Carolina. Didn’t get the job, which is interesting.

As an OC, he's had top-5 NFL offenses multiple times. And, he has 22+ seasons as an NFL OC.

Losers don't have 22 years at OC in the NFL.
