I said this or the Service Academies when he originally committed to LSU and the board flipped out.

ETA: Hearing JUCO is a very real possibility. Guess it's too late to get on at a university?
Probably wants to play this season and maybe open up more options.

yeah he was pretty much just a body to fill the roster. that's how putrid our qb recruiting had gotten at that point. of course LSU fans also love a kid from BR.
I have zero against kids who really aren't LSU caliber. They're still probably very good athletes. Just not LSU good.
But, the blunt truth is, when we came off of the last few seasons and all Miles could land was JM and Scott, he needed to be fire AT THAT MOMENT.
We were in real fricking trouble. We were looking down the barrel of a Chad Loup/Jesse Daigle type QB rotation and Miles was flat out NOT going to land another half decent QB.
People think Narcisse was a given but if Miles shits the bed all season last year and doesn't get fired, Narcisse wasn't coming here either.

Probably right decision for himself!!

Now? Not so much.
Which high caliber QB are we going to get in this class?

And spare me the idea they were Miles recruits.
Until they've signed, they ain't shite.
If being a commit in August meant something, do I really need to hand you a list of all the QBs who would have found their way to campus?

But yes. It's true. We don't really know how QB recruiting will be going forward.
This year is a huge hear for that.
We don't have to be spectacular, but, we do have to show something on the field that makes a 17 year old AND his father(or male father figure) take notice and believe that a good QB can excel here.

Happens to every school at QB.

McMillan isn't going anywhere.
Probably not--he seems like a guy who would stick around. But, he is from Texas, and like Brandon Harris, he may just be close to graduating. If he can graduate by summer and go somewhere he can play immediately and still have 2 years of eligibility left(like John Diarse at TCU), he may want to peace out somewhere closer to home where he can play.
Again, I don't think he will leave, especially knowing he will literally be 1 play from being the starter. But, he likely thinks he's better than you do, and kids who make it this far are competitive and like to actually play rather than just practice. I am almost 40 and only made it to D1 baseball as a preferred walk-on for 1 season of practice, but I still think of myself as a baseball player deep down, ridiculous as that is. I don't subscribe to the notion that McMillon has conceded never playing competitive football ever again because you--and plenty of others--deem him to be "not an SEC quarterback."
That said, Narcisse is the more important guy. I said this in another thread, but they have to really sell him on redshirting and getting stronger and show him they will at the very least carve out a contributing role in '18/'19 similar to Tebow in '06 and Perrilloux in '07. Worse case scenario Brennan stays all 4 years and he gets a year to start like Flynn. More likely scenario Brennan leaves early and he gets 2 years to start. Regardless, I think it's crucial they meet with him and lay out a plan as soon as possible.

It's not the offense, the kids want the easiest path to a starting job
To some extent, yes. But QB is a different animal. It's really the only position where if things go well the coaches aren't going to sub. It's not uncommon at all for a team's back up QB to not play a meaningful snap for an entire season. That's not the case for virtually any other position (maybe punter/kicker) If Brennan has passed up Scott on the depth chart, then there isn't a real reason to stay (if playing time is the ultimate goal). I understand the decision.

Brennan was on board if Miles was staying, Narcisse who knows?

We'll see once the offense gets rolling. This recruiting season isn't over but even if we don't get one this year I suspect after this season we will likely get (1) possibly more the next. Which will really be ideal anyway. I would love to get at least one big time QB every other year with some top 20 talent in between but this will not happen until the offense looks enticing to these QB recruits.
If that happens this year I think the QBs will be arriving in spades to work with Canada and staff. I also believe that with the hire of the new WR staff that the big time WRs will start showing up to be coached by some of the best and prepare them for the NFL. This could be real good peeps. HTT

Orgeron still had to sign them after Miles was gone so he gets credit for it, but it's pretty ignorant to say they're high caliber while also saying Miles would not have landed anyone high caliber.
Maybe these guys just magically got better on November 26? That's probably it.

Remember when Coach O got the job, it was because of a binder with a master plan? Well, I hope his number 1 priority in that binder was to straighten up the QB situation.
The QB position is still a huge question mark. I hope Coach O will be able to land at least 2 quality QBs in this next class.

Exactly. They weren't elite recruits until O wanted them.
