but other schools have done it for many years.

I wonder how many hours each week "Joe" spends looking at revenue streams for other universities?
" If they can charge for it so will we"

Look out for more to come

I've been to Auburn, Alabama, UGA, Ole Miss a dozen times. I have never paid to park...

Aside from the parking:

LSU and the LSU AD has THE WORST PUBLIC RELATIONS in the entire country.

There a ways to generate revenues and control costs that make sense. LSU and the LSU AD know little about either of them. It is a shame the poor PR of LSU can undermine such a passion for the school and the AD. I'm an alumnus of LSU.

There have been over 100k people tailgating on campus as long as I have been alive. If anything tailgating has spread out away from the middle of campus as the golf course was moves and more parking was put in.

i think what he meant to say was it is now a new generation of tailgaters on campus every weekend....basically, the individual quality of the tailgater over previous years has in effect gone to shite as the older crowd is replaced.

This is just an easy way to get some cash without actually doing any research of ways to make the University more efficient. Just look at the salaries of the University administration AND the Athletic Department administration. At least the Athletic Department is self supporting. University administration is 100 percent overhead. Just check and see how many Associate Vice Chancellors, Assistants to the Vice Chancellor, Directors, etc. have been added in the last five (5) years. Then look at how many direct reports these people have. It's a joke. It's amazing how LSU cries every frickin' year about having no money when the adminstration position and salaries skyrocket and go unchecked. They take care of their own and piss on students, faculty, staff and University patrons

I didn't see this post, but this is exactly what I'm talking about. The budget cuts supposedly amount to them going back to their 2007 budget. How in the hell does this warrant all the terminations, getting rid of programs, this parking garbage, etc.? Sounds like some major budget mismanagement issues going on at LSU.

Instead of protesting the legislature maybe current students should protest where it might make more sense (on campus).
