Let's talk about the RB situation for this season

So time and again, it's brought up that this is a glaring weakness for our squad this year. I'm not hear to say we're going to lead the conference in rushing, but I'm pretty hopeful that it won't be a dramatic drop off from previous years.
1) O Line depth. This is really the biggest factor. I'm confident that, regardless of scheme, depth here will help pick up some of the slack from not having proven freaks running the ball. We also have a new coach that could also make a big difference as far as preparation goes. This can only be better than last year
2) Scheme. If we are spreading the ball out, going 4 wide at times, and able to get our freak receivers in space, then opposing secondaries will HAVE to respect that. Throw in a quarterback that can make the throws (not necessarily Burrow, but come on. It's going to be Burrow) and you shouldn't have teams loading the box. This is a big question mark for many. Rightfully so. Can't count how many times I've gotten my hopes up about a competent passing attack before the season starts. But something feels different about this off-season. There's so much talent, that I truly can't fathom us not slinging it more effectively than years past.
Also, I have no reason to believe this happens, but...What if after 4 damn years of college, the light finally comes on for Brossette? I was so high on him as a croot, and he clearly has some talent somewhere... Perhaps he's matured and experienced enough to hold onto the ball now (having Troy flashbacks just thinking about it)
If not, I've personally been impressed with CEH, especially considering his size. We haven't had a back like him in awhile. He's not exactly LeGarret Blount, but he's certainly not afraid to run between the tackles, if he's asked to. I'm hoping Curry or Provens can serve in that role if Brossette is still helpless.
Any thoughts on our RB situation? What's your take?

CEH is better than you think and will be the starter. NB will be the backup and likely get snaps all year, however look for Curry to pass him in production come October. That’s just my personal opinion.

We haven't really had an "elusive" back in awhile. He looks like a guy that will make you miss and burn you. He should be all over the field this season.

I think CEH will be a very good back. Strong and shifty. I’m really hoping Curry will step up to be our other featured back. I have no confidence in NB. Could he turn the corner? Sure. But it’s much easier for a RB to transition to college than most other positions. With them you usually know what you have early on. I will admit this is the biggest question mark at RB we’ve had in my 30-40 years of following LSU.

For some reason, CEH reminds me of Dalton Hilliard, similar size and style of running. If I recall, Hilliard wasn’t highly regarded at the start of his career, especially compared to James and Bernard, but went on to be one of the best backs in LSU history. Hoping CEH turns out to be Dalton 2.0.

CEH would have been rated higher if he was a little taller. He has the speed, quickness and power to be a very good RB. He has a very powerful lower body and low center of gravity. Curry will be very interesting kid to watch. He runs angry and should be a capable between the tackles RB. These two will not lack for toughness.

I think it has been more an issue of who has been in front of him (Fournette, Guice, Williams) than a talent issue. Also when given his shots he fumbled to often. Other than that I thought he looked pretty strong and fast running the ball. He looks plenty fast coming out the blocks. I doubt there is any reason he can't get past the fumbling issue and be a talented featured SEC level RB. Not a Fournette, Guice or Jeremy Hill level RB, but a good one none the less.

people get all down since we don't have a Hill or Fournette or Guice.
but football is a team sport. our RB's are damn good and will be an asset this year. LSU, and esp. les miles over relied on Fournette. imo, that hurt the team production. he made sensational runs but miles used him as our only weapon and really good teams beat us because of that.
we spread the ball around and our RB production is going to be surprisingly good.

I like CEH as a dual threat and release option for the passing game. He bounces off guys and he has ELITE lateral movement. He’s better than the rest of the league knows. I think Curry can punish up the middle in clock possession and goal line situations, though I don’t want to see him bouncing outside in this league. I see Brosette as a glider who is a nice change of pace and who can break long runs. He has actually looked pretty good in limited playing time, he just has to play hungry and protect the ball. I think Provens brings nice speed and wiggle to the position and may be better than we thought when we signed him. And Fournette is a strong kid who can give you good reps and punish a defense . So , CEH is the guy who gets the most big plays and ypg, but it will be more of a RB by committee approach until we get the two insanely good freshman ( Davis and Emery ) in 2019.

I think Clyde is going to be the Man.

people are down on the RB position because of lack of recruiting. RB at LSU hasn't been an issue in many years.
When Stevan Ridley was RB, we were supposed to have issues too, but...here's to hope!

Uh Guice was on our team the past 3 years, super Elusive...

Technically we do have a Fournette... haha

I guess I meant more the type that will always try to make you miss, where Guice could effectively truck you every down if he wanted. Clyde has this nasty 2 cut that will hopefully fill his highlight reel this season.

CEH looks like Mighty Mouse did when he was healthy and fresh.

I think he has a good not great season. probably somewhere around 850 yards rushing, but still somewhere around 4-5 YPC , just wont get that many touches.

RB is a position us LSU fans have been spoiled with and taken for granted for years. I hope the tradition of having stud backs continues but the law of averages is bound to catch up with us at some point.
