We fired Les because he was a fuking idiot that was handed a big time championship program and brought it to mediocrity

Not even close. Saban had one year with less than three losses. In his last year they finished ranked 16th, hardly a championship program. LSU was still an up and coming program when Les took over.

Am I crazy for being optimistic this year?

I stopped reading here. The obvious answer is yes. 5-8 wins is what every single publication or Vegas will give LSU. There’s a reason & it’s not because of “haters”.

The talent on the field is no where near as bad as it being made out to be. The coaching staff is the same. The problem is the game day coaching from our head coach. He has done a great job in all other facets so far imo. But gameday has proven we are weak in this area. I do feel the coaches around him and the resources our program provide will minimize this a lot this year, and we definitely could be much better than expected, but again the toughest schedule in the country isnt doing us any favors.

You obviously underestimate the talent level b/c of inexperience. LSU is known for having NFL-caliber players. Just let the season get started and then have an opinion. You also underestimate the coaching staff for their ability to bring in talented players. I predict 3 All-Americans by the time the season ends and an SEC West title. How's that for 2018 Football talk.

It sounds exactly like 2017 football talk, 2016 football talk, 2015 football talk and so on and so on.

Don't sleep on Magee. He looked good when he was in last season. Also lets not forget about Troare.

They both looked awful in the Spring Game.

Les didn’t get fired because he “barely” lost to Wisconsin...

Les got fired because he promised change and to adapt to modern college football. Les, for all the good he did early in his career, fell back into 1970s football post 2011. He was gun shy and constantly getting out coached and outclassed by his peers in the end.

It was the way the team looked against Wisconsin: sloppy, unfocused, unprepared, unchanged. And again against Auburn 3 weeks later.

Les just lost it.

It’s not crazy to think we could go 10-2 or even undefeated this year. Our defense is stellar, our QB and WR core should be great. It’s really all up to the Oline to protect whichever QB to get the ball to the recievers. If the Oline holds up it shouldn’t really matter about the RB situation. If the Oline and recieving core holds up, whoever is running the ball should be good enough. I may get a lot of heat for saying this, but there’s no reason to think we would have a losing season this year even if the schedule is tough. The schedule is tough every year! I’m thinking 10-2. Our only loses come from UGA and Bama. I’m not delusional, you people just have no faith in your team. So, let the shite talkers began. Come at me.

Schedule is brutal. Have to play in the SEC west and oh by the way you have to play Georgia and Florida from the east and Miami to start the season.

Besides Greedy we have 4 scholarship corners. 1 has been a WR his entire life and the other is a grad transfer that couldn’t start at Stanford.

Right but don’t forget we got nickel locked up and a 5* fresh that’s the fastest guy on a fast team.

The Steele pre-season 2018 SOS is easy as any LSU final SOS from '08-'16.
Now things get back to "normal".

2017 SOS was a joke and a missed opportunity for Bebe to gain fans.

We literally just fired Les for barely losing to Wisconsin, who won their division in the big 10 and 10 games, and Auburn who played in the Sugar Bowl. Should have just kept Les if we were going to lower our expectations.

we just fired les 10 months too late and didn't have a proper candidate list or search.

I agree with what you are saying, but you saw how many teams came knocking at Les' door. The only thing he got was a few bad scripts.

This year sets up a lot like 2011. Very tough schedule. Started with Oregon. We were weak at QB. Jefferson was suspended. Jarrett Lee our starter. Very Dominant defense. Nothing special on offense. Tolliver and Ruben Randall as wideouts. No dominant running back. Could not move the ball against Bama in either game. Do we prepare this summer like we did then. I lived in Atlanta. Tony Barnhardt told the Georgia and SEC listeners that when you go on the field b4 the game when the teams are walking around in their under armour gear. LSU and Alabama are grown men. Above everyone else. We have lost some of that as well. Can we get it back.
