Looking at the big picture, 10-2 and a trip to the Sugar Bowl is still very doable, and would undeniably be a good season and constitute improvement from last year. We all want to beat Alabama, and Coach O made enough good decisions with the program this past offseason to warrant seeing what he will do going forward. Anyone on here who knows my post history knows I was not a fan of the hire but right now we all need to look at the big picture. There’s 11 other games on the schedule besides Alabama and winning 10 of them and going to a major bowl game is a good year, I don’t see how anyone could argue that.

Oh look, it’s the annual week after the Alabama loss thread that pops up every year at this time.

Only team Bama has shutout this year... go look at who all they've played.

This one stings.

10 regular season wins and a Sugar Bowl trip is a good year, that’s just a fact. Win that and you’re 11-2 and finish in the top 5. How would that be anything to complain about?

I didn’t say it didn’t but it’s not a 1 game season

A decade of offensive mediocrity is insulted when you get shut out after running off an actual OC in lieu of promotion of a position coach.

too early my tea sip friend and you are missing the point, you must let the butt hurt flow thru the true tiger fan, then and only then will the bama envy subside until next year when it will rise again, rinse and repeat until something different happens...

If you don't demand better, you don't get better.

You think the university wants to spend money on the program? They'd be content to go 8-4 / 9-3 every year, fill the stadium every week and save $2M-$3M a season on an average head coach.

If you don't demand excellence, you won't get excellence.

Sorry, 10-2 with yet another broken offense and another loss to Alabama isn't good enough.

Long term I’m not arguing with that but for 2018 it’s improvement from the last few years, especially if we win out including the bowl game.

Also the only team to stop bamas opening drive, also the only team to still have a game after half, and most importantly the only team to get bamas 1st string for four quarters. no doubt i wanted to win, or at least score, but dont compare our lack of success against their monster 1st string to weaker opponents success against their 2nd/3rd/or even 4th string.

Tend to agree Draconian. 11-2 is a 2 game increase in the right direction from last year. Yes, we want to beat Bama, but we have to get a dynamic offense and a few other key positions to do that. I want to see this team not give up the rest of the way and lay waste to the rest of their opponents.

Only in fantasy football is a team rewarded for not allowing an offense to score alot of points. At the end of the day... a point must be scored to win a game.

I mostly agree

11-2 is a great season
10-3 is pretty decent

This wasn’t supposed to be a rebuild but it is what it is.

We had some legit wins this year.

At this point I am just still concerned about the offense. We should be getting better and we’re really just all over the place. We have 5 more TDS than field goals on the season. We are not great.

For sure, I just wonder what are you going to do? Change offensive coordinators yet again? That would make 4 in 4 years.

“Big picture”

The big picture for me on this Tuesday morning is that we haven’t beaten Bama now in eight years and after last Saturday nights performance, I’m not sure we’re going to beat them anytime soon.’ The other big picture is that our offense isn’t one damn bit better today than it was three years ago. In fact, it’s worse.

We can soft pedal that as much that we want by imagining what nice bowl games we might go to, but for me and at this time those to facts are very disturbing.

How do you field an offense that will end up in the 90s or 80s and keep your job?

Ultimately to beat Bama and really to score on a lot of the very good defenses we are gonna see in the SEC we have to be creative.

Any competitive person that has ever played a down of organized football at any level full well knows that if you don't finish in first place at the end of the season, you might as well be in last place.

Second Place Acceptance is for losers; no difference between second place and last place.

The only bare minimum acceptable finish to the season would be wins over Arkansas, A&M and whatever team we play in the meaningless whatever "Participation Bowl."

That would produce an 11-2 season, which would signify some "Improvement" over last year. Nothing less is acceptable.

No doubt all the Under Rock Dwelling Pump Nuts "will be fine" with something less......

was hiring Ensminger as OC a "good decision?" Our offense has been spotty all year.
