Everyone just remember this season and what Coach O is capable of because the naysayers will likely be back next year. I think we will take a step back next year for obvious reasons (no Joe, even year, and the 2018 class will be juniors). I expect the years after that to be special again with the classes that will be coming in.

Coach O has obliterated the Negatiger scourge. For those self hating ones - they love and hate him at the same time since he has proven them to be the rantarded a hole POS idiots they are yet they enjoy the success of the team. I love him for it!!

I was cautiously optimistic but no one could see this coming. Urban Myers is a great coach, he didn't see this coming. Joe Burrow is a great quarterback.

Recall radio talk show hosts endorsing Jimbo and Herman....ridiculing Coach O and his binder. Currently crow eating at its finest!

I was on board that he would be alright. His resume, former players comments, and actions indicated he could be good. Many failed to understand how this works. That failure makes it all the more special now!

I had a wait and see attitude about O when he was hired. If he works out, great; if not we’ll find somebody else.
I wanted to believe that he had upside without much evidence at the time. Never in a million years thought he’d do this.

Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick both say Hello.
Carroll fired from the Pats in 99.
Belichick had a losing record as Browns head coach.
Why piss on Orgeron unless you have an agenda? frick off

The fact that you think he's pissing on O is
The Op is asking if anybody saw him winning a Coach of the Year award. The correct answer is no one did. There were several early supporters, myself included but him maybe winning CotY never entered my mind.

Yes - you have the context right. I liked Coach O out of the gate. I thought we could have made a “better” or “splashier” hire, and that we had settled, but it was an okay hire. I even thought we could hit 10 wins a few times.
I never thought a season like this would happen under his reign. It’s remarkable and I love every minute of it. And I highly doubt that anyone of those so-called “vocal supporters” can really say that they predicted that a guy with an overall record of 22-29 (that was his record when he took the job officially) was going to have a 13-0 team just three years later.
This isn’t a negative statement about O - it’s a statement about how amazing the turnaround has been. And he has led that turnaround.

Not true at all. He's had some very vocal supporters here since day 1.

Considering his time at Ole Miss and him following Kiffin around to jobs, I just wasn't sure about Coach O. I initially felt like it was a "settle hire" since LSU couldn't get bigger names.
The stint at Ole Miss really had me worried the most. But he slowly started winning me over and I knew he had such a passion for LSU and the state being a homeboy. So I thought he deserves the chance and if he is so passionate about the state and LSU I know he will put in the effort required, especially with this being the dream job for him.
Getting rid of the gimicky Canada offense was the 1st decision that made me happy. Regardless, whoever the coach is I'm going to get behind them till they give me a reason not too.
But going out and getting Burrow in the portal knowing he had to generate offense showed the fans that he was serious about offense and when that wasn't enough offense, he went even further and found Brady. I think that decision only works for Coach O because he knew Ensminger was a humble guy and a true Tiger and would help implement what Brady brought.
Coach O has made the right decisions, knows his personnel and their personalities and formed a coaching staff, particularly an offensive staff that worked seemlessly. If you tried this dynamic elsewhere it wouldn't have worked mainely because of egos OC's. But CEO knew Ensminger and read him correctly and read Brady correctly and they both have this humbleness about them and CEO made this work. He deserved the Coach of the Year. Also, "Geaux Tigers" at the end of interviews is awesome.

I've had to eat a lot of crow in regards to CEO. I was not a big fan of the hire. I thought it was the lazy way out. But I'm so glad I was wrong.

I was on the "cautiously" optimistic team. I was adamant that there was no real justification to fire Miles in order to hire O (and obviously that wasn't the intent, but I digress). However, once done, all the Negas wanted to re-litigate the hiring decision over and over. They wanted to bring up Ole Miss, even during some of the early troubles in O's first full year.
It was exhausting arguing with supposed "fans" of the program who were hell bent on not allowing the process to take its course.
But people who know football kind of saw all of this potential. When he held the staff together and cobbled a fairly decent (under the circumstances) recruiting class together coming off the interim tag and all the Alleva incompetence hilarity, I thought it had a chance. I was skeptical after the loss to Troy, but the next 4 weeks (including looking decent in a loss against an absolutely stacked Bama team) convinced me that it could work.
Nobody is happier about it than me. I only have 1 football team and few other sporting interests. One team, one heartbeat.

I was neutral. He was our Coach so I supported him until he either proved he could or couldn't coach. You know, like Miles first game vs Tennessee.

I was just surprised by the quick removal of Miles and was willing to give whoever was chosen as coach a chance to prove themselves. Like most on this forum, I was hoping to land Tom Herman and was disappointed how that played out. Coach Orgeron has been a spectacular success and as it has turned out, a much better selection than either Herman or Jimbo. He has addressed the weaknesses of the team and I think he is on his way to a long time stint as the LSU head coach.
