Too much money for a buyout that LSU cannot justify

Only way he stays is if LSU cannot get their guy this year.

LOL....you do understand that "LSU" doesn't have to justify anything....that there are boosters that are going to pay this over several years...right?

I think there's been too much water under the dam with the leaks and info releases for that.

Besides, I think keeping a coach on a year to year basis like that would be poison to recruiting.

Some of y'all saying this need to learn how to comprehend things. It has been talked about over and over and over again, they don't have to pay it all up front. It can be spread out over a number of years if they so choose.

this would be the smart way to handle it. But I am not sure that is possible or if we have the people in charge that could pull that off .

I want him back for one reason, we have a ton of potentially good/great players. I'd say that if he can't perform better next year then it's definitely over for him. In my opinion, if Les is the great coach that many believe him to be, then a proper farewell tour in appropriate. Otherwise, we squander a chance to peak with this roster.

I'll admit that I've never been fully behind Miles. Early on he didn't present himself the way I think our coach should, but he got better. He has always kept games too close, played down to the opponent's level. Finally, his players have lacked in basic fundamentals from avoiding penalties to tackling to pass coverage to pass blocking to off-field behavior. A "player's coach" is another way of saying "the crewmen captain the ship".

Isn't they buyout reduced by the amount of money he's paid at his next coaching job? He wouldn't be unemployed for long.

I would lay money on Les being the coach at LSU next year. He is gone if they do not win the west next year.

I don't see Les leaving LSU and landing a top tier job. Too many younger, better choices.

whether it is spread out or lump sum, 15 million is still 15 million.

He is finally after all these years starting to say the right things about the offense side of the ball. They tried yesterday to do some things on offense but the disarray and poor execution bit them in the foot. That poor execution, mistakes and disarray speaks to the bad coaching on that side of the ball which, of course, has to be addressed if Miles is going to stay. Let Miles address that along with the special teams, get some better players on defense in this recruiting class and see how it works out before jumping the gun with a huge buyout. It's the prudent thing to do in these bad economic times in the state of Louisiana.
