no, i'm not one of those fans that thinks LSU will blow everyone out. i understand how football works. momentum, home field, etc...

i also realize that LSU tends to play down to their opponent. they were playin on the road with nothing really riding on the game.

Arkansas has been lacking any type of true defensive influence at the head coaching position and has always been able to put up points in big numbers. They have the athletes on offense most years but lack a true sense of defense. Bret will bring defense to Arkansas, something that they have been without for years and still manage to slow LSU down. Bielema may not be Nick Saban or Les Miles, but that doesn't mean given the same resources he can't be successful.

I worded it incorrectly. Given SEC resources. Aren't they currently upgrading facilities at Arkansas? Just because they don't have exactly what LSU and Bama has doesn't mean they can't become successful.

During a time period in which one of UM/tOSU (or both) were down each year. The Big10 isn't a powerhouse right now.

Bielema plays the same style of football that Les plays. Until he can get elite talent at Arky, I won't be too worried.

Bielema is an idiot. See Rose Bowl between Wisky and TCU.

Bielema will never beat Miles, Muschamp or Saban.

When an SEC coach with a successful history goes to the big ten and goes 12-0 in his first year, that pretty much tells me all i need to know about the quality of the conference.

I don't think Bielema is a great hire by any means, but what else could he have done at Wisconsin?

Actually won the Rose Bowl. Survive without relying on QB transfers.

The Gumps and barners up here were on radio saying they would take bielema over miles any day. I don't care for him bc is notorious for trolling other fanbases but he is a pretty solid coach and had limited resources compared to what he will have at Arkansas

He's not a bad coach but not an elite one either. He doesn't bring any great scheme advantage and his style of play doesn't fit with the personnel currently residing in Fayetteville. Which makes the hire even stranger because he isnt known as a good recruiter and isn't known as a very likeable guy. Who knows, he may just be what Arkansas needs but I see him gone in 3-4 years

Truth they don't have to same resources and certainly has a disadvantage in recruiting. Facilities at Arkansas however are in the upper tier of the conference. LSU as of today has the best facilities in the conference not counting the stadium. the decayed tooth bowl that is BDS is the best stadium in the conference(not counting atmosphere)

Look through the thread, he has been pretty specific. I still disagree, but to each his own.

He is gonna have to get his players in and learn how to recruit in the SEC. He threw a bitch fit when Urban was recruiting one of his committed recruits.

They won the Big 10 this year but it was far from owning it.
