This is cool. Thanks for posting. For me, Coach Les was a guy I loved and hated at the same time… basically the entire time he was here. But other than year 2 O and First Bama game Kelly, I've missed him. Especially with Kelly, if you're gonna be horrible at least don't be a jackass. Have some personality. Kiffin is the first coach Im excited about from day 1. Ive rambled, but the point is, it’s time for LSU to welcome him back. The co-ed stuff I get, but if you're gonna nail him on that…. most all of them have to go.

I agree. Les is in his 70s now. LSU needs to embrace him and all he did for us

His news conference after the 2010 Tennessee game (watch to the end.)

Anyone have the quote where he roasted Mosconna?

So good. Was that the Jordan Jefferson game, when Dooley was absolutely pissed and we all knew the refs screwed up?

I “spoke Les” by this point. So I understood everything he said.
And I wanted him fired after that game. Leslie Miles.

There used to be a great website with all his quotes
The quotable les miles.com maybe?

So apparently Les was excited about the 2011 defense just before the season and was quoted as calling them “smoke in a bottle.” Always found that funny.
I don’t think there’s video, I think this was in the paper/ on one of the local paper sites.
Also, “let er rip” on the sideline of an OSU-OU game should always be in his top quotes. I don’t care if it’s a list of LSU quotes.

In my opinion Les shite the bed in his last few years but he doesn’t always get the credit he deserves for maintaining a top-notch program
Les coached LSU for 11 seasons....that twice as many seasons any other coach has lasted here since Cholly Mac retired.
He NEVER shite the bed. He lead the team with integrity and character. His teams played hard, tough physical football. He recruited at the level of Nick Saban. He left LSU in a very good shape and was twice the coach his successor was. He loved his players and his players loved him, and that cannot be said about the man who succeeded his successor.
Les commuted only 2 crimes [1] He was not Nick Saban and [2] Perhaps the worst athletic director in LSU history just did not like him and desperately wanted to fire him.
The program Saban built was preserved for 11 years by Les Miles. Ed Orgeron unraveled it in 3 years to a point where we went into the bowl game in 2021 season with 42 athletes and no QB. That only shows how solid a coach Les really was. Fans with Saban Derangement Syndrome could not overcome their mental condition and appreciate him.
Post Les, it was a mistake after mistake and now the price tag of that is north of a 100 million USD and counting.

A lot true here

I think he was good for a least 1 per year.

I’ll never forget him immediately yelling for a timeout after we just picked a ball off at Arizona State

The thing about it I hated Les. He just was too conservative for my taste. The clock management, the lack of in game plan and execution was exacerbated when he took to a microphone.
But BK, who arguably will go down as the most hated coach in LSU history, had absolutely no fire in his belly at all. He was a fake, phoney, water bottle smashing nincompoop who neither knew how to coach, nor recruit let alone speak goofy and try to make you like him. He mispronounced family but he never mispronounced an entire fricking state. (Of course he never beat Arkansas either).
BK IS a total loser albeit a generationally wealthy one, and I hate to say it, we’d have been better off re-hiring Miles vs hiring that Kelly LOSER.

Who cares out that clown? He roadthe coattails of a HOF DC & a Top 1-2-3 roster talent wise. He couldn’t fail with what he was gifted.
He and BK are from the same cloth, I have little respect nor care for that weirdo
Why do you post this type
Of crap!

For all his faults Les was dedicated and as hard working as anyone you could tell he truly cared unlike BK

This!! True authentic frontier gibberish.
And I think it was authentic. I do believe that at some point he realized folks were laughing at him for it, so I do think at times he leaned into it for effect, but I think what you saw and heard was who he was and how he spoke.
I saw him enough in situations where he did not have to play the bumbling Columbo to believe it to be genuine.
