How's that for an ego-kill.
Does it matter that he knows more about coaching. We haven't been coaching for 20 years
The question is "Does he know enough to deserve the 3.8 million."
Judge by his sideline confusion and end of the game deboggles. HELL NO!!!!!!!!!! That is what matters.

Les Miles infinite knowledge of football and his ability to manage a program appear to be at odds.

"and now..LSU will attempt for the game winning...what are they doing?!?! WHAAAT ARE THEY DOING?!"

So all of you guys who disagree with the title, do you think you or another poster on this board could consistently recruit and win 8-10 games a season???
YES!!
It's f'n football, not rocket science. The lifestyle is what weeds out most wannabe's, not the intelligence necessary to succeed.
To get started in coaching, at nearly any level, you have to be willing to put in 75 hour work weeks for very little pay, just to have a shot at the big time. Most people aren't willing to make this kind of sacrifice. It wrecks marriages and families. In the end, if you can make it to Miles' level, I guess it is all worth it. Most importantly, you have to be a LEADER.
But, don't kid yourself. Most of these coaches are just ordinary ex-jocks. There are exceptions to this rule. Sean Payton is certainly top of mind.
The title of this thread is a joke. There's nothing special about Les Miles, other than his incredible string of good fortune and good timing.

quote:What is retarded? You maybe... Les is responsible for not breaking NCAA rules and keeping his players in helmets only for the first practice. That limits the amount of physical activity. Not that hard to understand if you take the hate blinders off.
“The responsibility to wear just a helmet certainly curtails the activity
retarded

That is true but Miles is stubborn to his own detriment. He needs to be more flexible to succeed. He had too much success his first 3 years and is now going through a rough patch. Good luck to Les.

Fair enough.
The problem is that he doesn't seem to know more about football than any of his SEC colleagues.

So do Ron Zook, Larry Coker, Dennis Franchione, and Ed O.

Knowing Football is one thing.
Game management is another.

Les Miles knows more about football than anyone on this board.

the problem is that he knows less than the coaches in the SEC.
My left pinky knows more about clock management
when the players think the coach is a "fricking idiot", that shows you that they have zero respect from him

Im sure he does, when taking his body of knowledge into account but, so did Jim Haslett yet, most people on this board knows that you don't break out the 2 pt conversion chart until the 4th quarter. Apparently no one told Haslett this.
My point is, despite his knowledge, there could be a few bone headed things here and there that even people on this board could justifiably call him out on.
