You're on the other team's 20 yardline. There's 1 minute left on the clock. You're down by 1 point. You've been running it on them to get it to their 20. You have an inexperienced QB.
We're on the 20 yard line. We're down by 1 point. We got to that point by passing 3-3 for 20yds and rushing 3 times for 11 yards. We have an inexperienced QB who went 3-3 for 20yds and was 10-16 with a TD and was playing like a 5th year senior and had the matchup the OC wanted with the defense keying in on the run.
Get your scenario correct before you act like you can make football decisions please.

The man has confidence in his team! Why do you care your a bama fan?

This is some funny shite. bama fans on LSU board after they won at Arkansas yesterday! Guess that pretty much shows their concern with the upcoming game in BR!

By the way, that is how you beat Auburn! Guess bama wouldn't know anything about that!

OMGsh, a degree in finance!

you're thinking like Auburn was thinking...the same reason they had single coverage with no LBer or Safety help, those guys were looking in the backfield expecting run. Our coaches are smart enough to see that as being pretty damn good odds for a completion. It is more of an NFL play thatn a college one admittedly.

It doesn't. Throwing it on 1st down there is beyond retarded. I just don't understand how this guy can make bad decisions and continually defy the odds. I have a degree in finance and I understand statistics on a basic level at least, this shite is supposed to even out eventually.
well then you should know that:
when luck becomes constant=SKILL

The beauty of it is that Le's approach (in this year's game and in last year's) is statistically the smarter way to go. It's not a question of which play has the best odds of giving you the points you need but maximizing your chances to get those points. If you could re-try after a missed field goal that would be the better strategy. Absent that, you need to try your best to score on every play.

quote:It's a reasonable question, and certainly a civil one. I suggest that the most obvious answer is that they aren't bad decisions. The OC explained that he saw the defense moving closer and closer to the line of scrimmage, in anticipation of a run. That's what they thought and what you thought, and a whole bunch of other people thought. Because of that, he chose to try the pass. Only if it is intercepted is it a bad call. Otherwise, the defense will have to back off the line on the next play, because they have to think pass. That would leave two downs where the run might work better, and a closer field goal attempt.

We did have an OC who gave away a game at Auburn once. I can't remember his name, but Jamie Howard, a good kid, and a reasonably decent QB, followed instructions and had three passes picked off in the 4th quarter, allowing Auburn to win. He was just like Lee was in the 1st half; no confidence. Yet, the OC instructed him to throw. I think he suffered unnecessarily for the absolute stupidity of that OC. He should not have been blamed.

That is how his Quarterbacks get their best
experience when the coach shows confidence in
their ability and they perform; a big confidence
builder for QB, team and coaches.

Why are you so determined that just because Saban is at Alabama, that in and of itself means LSU will fail ?
If you can't understand now that Miles is an outstanding coach, you never will.
Keep hating him. It really seems to impact LSU's performance.

Link where I have said this. I don't think Miles is an outstanding coach, that is my opinion and it likely will not change.

quote:Oh! But, they will. And soon. Saban is a great coach. Period. When Alabama plays I pull for them, unless they're playing LSU.
and thats why bama will never be GREAT again
What's interesting is that Les Miles is actually a very good coach himself. He took a bit of getting used to. But, so did Saban. I think Saban's a better recruiter, but not by much. And, I really believe Miles is a better game day coach, but not by much. We at LSU have been very, very lucky to have both of these guys.

You'd be right if we're flipping quarters, but its about people. Doing what the other teams dont expect help in numerous ways. There is reason he is 6- vs top 10 teams in the last 6 games. like skip 5-0 nat title games

To the Bama guy complaining about Miles playcalling, saying that as a college football fan he hates the play calling here is a quote from George Morris' article that says it all:
"If you love college football, you’ve got to love watching Les Miles on the sideline. Unless you’re standing on the opposite one."
To the Bama fans, you really wouldn't complain if you weren't just pulling against LSU and/or simply jealous of their success. If you were truley neutral, you've gotta admit that you love it. Otherwise you are a fan of our opponents.
