He won a national championship and fielded the greatest team in LSU history. It's not a matter of opinion; Les WAS a great coach here. The fact that he slipped toward mediocrity does not change that.

is it "bashing" to offer legit commentary? Even if you love the guy, he can say some very bizarre stuff when he's in front of a microphone.

So how well will this theory of yours play out when ESPN, or me on this board, talk about how terrible black athletes talk in interviews?
I agree with you. But, he's white so it's not bashing.

Dude, many in here would legit trade O for Les! Blows my mind. One was FIRED for the other FFS. And by a competent and thoughtful AD.

Even for Les this one was strange. He started talking about the style of football they would play. He went into some deal about the community, realized he had no idea where he was going with that, and his brain hit the emergency shut off switch.

Les wasn’t on the field when the players won in spite of the coaching (regular season and SEC CG).

When coaching actually mattered (in the NC game), Les was nowhere to be found.

They were in the Orange Bowl a mere 12 years ago. Quit acting like they’ve never had success. Mangino had them rolling.

Sure he was. He made sure he worked the dogshit out of the team and trashed every new thing they worked on before the game and went with his gut.
