To summarize the views of the posters on this thread: 1]Most think that Les ,at the end, of the next SEVEN years will have clearley established himself as the ALL TIME greatest coach at LSU. 2] CNS and CPD will always be remembered for a shot in the arm at LSU 3]Not established; is how many NC's will LSU garner over the next seven years.

I'm amazed at the threads that get 15 pages. And the others that just die. There is no pattern whatsoever. Just thinkin out loud.

You think?

Miles or JJ or JL or Nick are lightening rod threads.

Call Miles the best or say bout anything good bout JJ or call for a QB change and sit back and watch the pages fly by.

It is a negative world we live it. Bad news or conflict of some sort sells.

I think one of the biggest problems is if one poster says something good about CLM or NS the other side takes offense and chimes in and the arguement begins.

It's a sports form/message board and chiming in is what we do.

I wasn't knocking anything so much as giving a take as to why some threads get page after page and some don't.

Some like NS and some like LM, but we all like, or at least those who post in the thread, giving our .02 cents.

As long as it's done in good sportsmanship and good taste...its all good. imo

I agree and I stated that each side sticks up for the other. I don't really have a side b/c I am an LSU fan more than a fan of the headcoach/ ex headcoach

I don't think it's necessary to rank the two (Saban and Miles) with emperical evidence or arguments one way or the other.

Nick Saban and Les Miles have both had tremendous success at LSU despite their vast differences in style, and we as LSU fans are all the beneficiaries of it. They'll both go down as two of the best coaches LSU has ever had.

Sad but true. Start a thread entitled, "Patrick Peterson was really, really good!" and you'll be lucky to get 3 or 4 snide, "no shite, sherlock!" type posts. But give people an opportunity to complain or insult somebody, and they come flocking out of the woodwork.

Well his .364 win % is not the worse for a coach at LSU... John P. Gregg .333 John P. Gregg .333 Wayne Sutton .375 only sub .500 coaches while at LSU

Since I remember Curley I will stick with him.

Besides I will always remember when Curley was quted as saying that has been "our achilles tendon all year"

Since I refuse to access those parts of my memory, I will agree with you on faith (or lack thereof, in Curley's case). He did land some notable recruits, and a couple of gloriously memorable wins; but man, was that guy an all around disaster of a coach!

Yep.

That sonofabitch burned LSU for 5 years.

It also taught me to always look at least a little bit beyond the record when assessing a coach.

True. A few years ago the coach for Rutgers was the hot name but what has he done since Ray Rice went pro...people tend to glorify coaches way too soon.

We can be jerk like with each other....that's true.

We seem to have balls as big as bowling balls when we behind a screen name or miles away from another.

Like the guy who wanted to know where my season tickets were so he could come and "kick my arse" because I disagreed with his opinion on here?

That would be a tad over the top.

Some allow their emotions to override their good judgement. I guess we all get carried away sometimes.

BTW, where are your seats.
