There are only 32 teams in the NFL. Most teams only carry 2 QBs some carry 3. I would say max there are 80 QBs on a NFL roster. Just no that many open spots for an avg at best college QB.

Al NFL teams carry 3 qbs.

Exactly. Lee can make all the throws you want your qb to make. The 20 yards out route is the route where you HAVE to have arm strength and Lee can make that throw. Lee's arm strength has NEVER been the problem. It's his decision making while under duress.

And is also something that can be coached

While I agree Lee is probably not gonna get drafted, sometimes guys with marginal (NFL-wise) talent get a shot. For example, Tyler Palko started in the NFL this year. Anything can happen.

No matter how bad anyone thinks the coaching JL had while he was at LSU there is no way anyone can convince me that it was so bad that he wasn't coached to have better mechanics and pocket presence. I don't think it will improve enough to make it in the NFL.

Collegiate Bowl practice: LSU's Lee disappoints, group of WRs impresses

quote:

If you were wondering what LSU head coach Les Miles was thinking in not allowing quarterback Jarrett Lee an opportunity against Alabama in the BCS Championship Game, you wouldn't have liked Lee's performance in the first practice. Lee never found any rhythm with his receiving corps and several of his passes fell woefully short of their target.

I love LSU and hope all their players have success but I just don't see what any NFL scout would see in Lee. The fans who say he has a strong arm are blinded with PnG glasses or have never seen a QB with a strong arm. If he plays after college it will be in the arena league IMO.

Even if Lee makes an NFL roster, some will still be swearing that JR, ugh, I mean JJ was a better college quarterback.

Agreed.

I'm not optimistic about his chances, but I hope he does well. Would be great if he succeeded.

He probably will. It was his first practice since just playing in a different all star game. I would imagine he would be a little rusty with all new guys from the ones he was working with all last week.

I wouldn't put too much stock into it unless the bad week continues. IMO.

As I've stated I think he has a legit chance as an UDFA if he lands in the right spot

Might take him a year on a practice squad before he has a legit shot at making a roster

Is the game he is playing in this weekend going to be televised?

Lee could get on a roster somewhere, if he plays amazing football in the exhibitions, and blows them away at Pro Day/Combine.

JJ could get on a roster, if somebody is desperate for an athlete at the QB spot for packages. . .

Both are doubtful. They'll get looks. Miles really hurt Lee AND JJ's prospects by leaving Jefferson in at a time he was clearly ineffective.
