Hatched looked way better, but his arm is where he will lose the QB battle. Lee definitly has more potential than Hatch, which is why I think he will eventually win the fight for starting games.

You guys going on and on about Hatch are hilarious. You make it sound like he was Rohan Davey vs Alabama in 2001.

Hatch looked better. Lee did not "outplay" Hatch at all. However, Lee probably has more potential than Hatch. If that's what you're arguing, you should put that in the subject of the message. Putting "Lee outplayed Hatch" in your subject line just makes you look dumb b/c everyone who has a clue saw that Hatch played better. The next couple games may look different, but based off of yesterday's and only yesterday's performance, you're wrong I-59.

Hatch also ran 7 times for 49 yards. That's nothing to sneeze at. He might have had a 100 yard game if he had played the whole game.

Lee might have thrown 5 TDs had he played the whole game.

I love the "what if" game. Can we keep playing?

I can't agree either I-59. Now I think Lee has more upside, has a stronger arm and makes us a better team if he can get all the other stuff.

But IMHO all the other stuff is important too and till he gets a bit better at that his tools will not be properly utilized.

I thought Hatch was better but not great either. They both need some work.

More likely to have thrown 5 INT's.

So you are comparing a mobile Qb, who threw the ball too hard (as opposed to too soft) to Lee,
way to dodge that one.

No, I was comparing two QB's with decision making and composure issues. Randall to Lee.

You knew that and retreated into an escapism.

hatch was by far the more comfortable of the two. can that change by aub...of course. but by being more relaxed, you dont have delay of game penalties when trying to (re)organize the blocking assingnments which is probably the most important thing a young qb can do.

i did spend the night in a holiday inn express last night.

Right now I think Hatch is more mature and less rattled on the field. Lee has a good arm and he will be fine. I think that they both had first game problems that will be ironed out. Quite frankly they both reminded me of Matt Mauck. Both have good feet, Hatch especially so. Both throw decent balls but lack alot of zip on their throws. They will be fine. I really think that either one can manage a game. So long as the Oline dominates the LOS, LSU will only have to throw enough to keep a defense honest. That means they will probably throw just a little more than they threw on Saturday when they get to the SEC schedule. Relax. They will be fine and while we have that defense, the offense should not have to put up more than 20-24 pts per game to be in a position to win. Our defense looks that good. 8 guys on the line can play with no drop off in talent or speed. Simply amazing.

Seemed to me like things fell to pieces when Lee was in. Still, we'll use both all year long, I 'm sure. That's fine. Just get the W's!!!

Hatch looked more calm and collected but Lee looks like he could be a gun slinger. Lee will be one of those guys that throws 4 tds a game with at least one pick. Personally i like the gun slinger approach. A lot more big plays and 3rd and long becomes attainable without running a wr screen. Hatch surprised me but i think lee is the long term answer. We could win with Hatch also but I would like to see Lee get the most reps in the next two.

I remember when Peyton Manning was a freshman. The number one Vol quarterback, Colquit, received a career ending injury, Todd Helton was next in line. He was injured slightly so he gave up football knowing that he had a baseball career. It was between two true freshmen, Manning a pure passer, and another high school All American who could pass but also had better running ability. The first game they both played. Manning was so so and the other kid was about the same but he made some big plays with his running ability. Next game Phat Phil named Manning the starter. The majority of the Vol fans were outraged. Phil obviously made the right choice.

Hatch looked more comfortable and yes handled the offense better, but that doesnt mean he looked better at the position, and although Lee will make freshman mistakes he looked like the better QB of the two and can actually complete a pass over 15 yards.
