Leavitt, Burreaux, Daniel's Jr seasons. Then senior year...

It's a trend possibly. All had talented Jr. Seasons and all are so similar in there current condition. Very good qbs. And there's a lot of season left. I'm cool with it.

This isn't the stock market. Each QB is different. Just because one gets better, has nothing to do with any other QB's progression. Some get worse.

He's a good player. He needs to settle down, but I'm sure there are tons and tons of examples of guys who are good players that at some point in their career got rattled and needed to slow down their brain. This is college sports, and these are young guys that are not all fully polished.
It doesn't help Leavitt when the guy opposite him is a 24 year old veteran that is ready to play in the NFL.

I kept making this same argument with Nuss. That he'd take the next leap during his final year. Extenuating circumstances didn't allow it but Sam could be great next year.
But if we're paying $5M for a QB then I'm expecting a finished product.

Leavitt got zero practice time in the Spring, so he's still technically not been practicing with this team for a full 2 months yet. He needs to make a pretty significant improvement this week or else our season is in trouble, but it's not some crazy stretch to say he can go from his current level of play to an elite level of play by the end of this season.

No one said that…Leavitt is not bad either… We are just saying he has the ability to make a jump next year assuming he’s here...
Burrow went from 16 passing TDs junior year to 60 passing TDs senior year. That’s the type of jump we like!

Daniels and Leavitt started for multiple years and Burrow only had 39 pass attempts.
While these are correctable, Leavitt is making mistakes you shouldn’t be doing as a 4th year player.

And then there was Nussmeier….
Jaden Daniels said the QB Computer software helped him more than anything else in how he was able to read defenses and adjust his throwing. I wonder if Leavitt is getting benefit. Not all schools have that to offer players due to cost

Burrow's first three games-
Miami- 11/24, 45.8% completion rate, O Tds
Southeastern- 10/20, 50% completion rate, 2 tds
Auburn- 15/34, 44.1% completion rate, 1 td
Burrow ended the season at 57.8% completion rate.
Jaxson Dart had a tough first year and Lane got him corrected. This is one reason we hired Lane.
Support the players we have and let them develop.

Burrow is a totally irrelevant comp as the situations are not the same. Burrow, though a 4th year player, had never played a meaningful college snap before coming to LSU. Leavitt had started 21 games, including a game in the CFP, before coming to LSU. Plus, in Burrow's first year he was stuck in the remnants of Les's antiquated offense. The explosion in 2019 was as much to do with the current HC of the Bills being his OC as anything else.

Though Burrow only played in 11 games before coming to LSU.
Daniels in 29 games.
Leavitt in 24 games.

It was a different time obviously but I remember that Miami game clear as day. The stat line in hindsight is terrible but everyone was stoked at the time. Maybe we were so used to slop that mediocre was getting overvalued but even the alumni guys like MS & RC was praising burrow that game. I've seen enough to know what it looks like. I was skeptical after Clem but tech game sold me that we had a limited ceiling if the only way we could score from the QB position was in a backyard fashion. Hopefully Sam does improve though
