Law of averages had to catch us at some point (Alex Box)

We are so lucky to be LSU baseball fans. What we have seen in terms of great games, great teams, and comebacks (including Friday afternoon/Saturday morning) since 1985 has been unprecedented. You had to know that at some point, some team would break the Alex Box dynamic. Sure, we had a few opponents win Baton Rouge regionals, but we never had it happen like this. We never lost a Super Regional in Alex Box and the only time we lost a Regional at home when we got to the final round was during Smoke's tenure.
I always kind of felt that it would be a small school to do it. I think the Alex Box crowd and mystique can buckle the big boys, but a small team with nothing to lose was a perfect fit.
All in all, Alex Box Stadium is still a pretty tough place for opponents to win.

This true. The crowd yesterday was outstanding and to bad the team could not play as well as the crowd participated! On to football

Good assessment, Choupique.
I felt the same about the BCSNCG 1/9. LSU had won 6 of 6 championship games in baseball and was 2 for 2 in football title games.
You didn't want it to happen but you knew it was inevitable.

Well at least it didn't happen with a title on the line.

To win a title you had to win that game so it was basically on the line.

Not entirely true. We lost in the old regional format twice at the box under Skip. In 92 bounced by Ohio State and Cal State Fullerton. (CSF CWS Champion that year). Again in 95 beat both times by Rice.

Both in 1992 and in 1995 we lost on Saturday night, and did not reach the championship round on Sunday.
