11 and 24

FALSE

his entire record at Ole Miss is 51-19

I believe the 11-24 is his career record which includes USC, Tennessee, & FAU

I’m not necessarily saying I wouldn’t have him here. I’m just saying it’s not like he’s got some immaculate record that should automatically qualify him as the number one overall candidate, barring all others
the number one candidate would be Lanning but no chance Oregon and Phil Knight let him go

Think it’s actually 10-10

…. So he was 1-14 before Ole Miss? Assuming your 11-24 number is correct

He’s at Ole Miss. They’ve won double digit games in back to back seasons for the second time ever. They are likely to win 10+ again this season and it will be the first time they ever do that in 3 consecutive seasons.

And Vanderbilt is going to win ten games too. Indiana is going to win 12 this year. Tulane may be in the playoff.

NIL has changed the world. My point is everyone is greasing his pole and there are other people out there. Also, he’s not coming here. Ole miss wont let him go for what we will be willing to pay him

Lane would come to LSU. He knows the brand.

Ole Miss has been consistently good for 5 years now. This isn’t a Vandy or Texas Tech scenario

Right now, he's one of the best coaches in the SEC and he's got Ole Miss as a consistent contender. Prior to him, they were a door mat.

They were literally better less than a decade ago with Hugh Freeze.

That argument worked 4 years ago.

Right now, he's one of the best coaches in the SEC and he's got Ole Miss as a consistent contender.

Let me preface this by saying Lane Kiffin is a good coach. I think he’d be a great hire and would bring a lot of excitement to the program if we land him.

That being said, there’s a problem with this whole “he made OLE MISS into a contender” mentality. It requires you to assume that winning at Ole Miss is harder than winning at LSU. The issue with that line of thinking is that Ole Miss and LSU have played very different schedules in recent years.

Yeah, they’re a shoe-in for the CFP this year. But they only played 2 teams that are currently ranked.. and went 1-1 in those games. The reason they’re a shoe-in is that their remaining schedule consists of The Citadel and 3 SEC teams with a combined SEC record of 3-11. Meanwhile LSU’s 2025 schedule consists of 5 teams that are currently ranked, with 4 in the top 10.

Yeah, they almost made the CFP last year. They literally had the easiest schedule in the entire SEC, by multiple metrics. They reportedly went “all-in” on NIL for the transfer portal. They won their 2 games against teams who finished ranked. And somehow they still went 9-3 with a loss at home to Kentucky, who went 1-7 in SEC play.

Yeah, they went 10-2 in 2023. It was Kiffin’s best season at Ole Miss so far. And they got there by winning 1 game against a team who finished ranked - a 55-49 shootout at home vs. LSU.

Their best P5/P5 OOC opponent since Kiffin has been there was Georgia Tech in 2023, who went 7-6 (5-3 ACC). In fact that’s the only P4/P5 OOC opponent they’ve played with a winning conference record. Meanwhile in the same season, LSU played 13-0 Florida State.

I don’t dispute that it’s harder to win championships at Ole Miss than LSU. But there’s no world in which it’s been harder to win 9-10 games at Ole Miss over the past few years. I’m not saying we shouldn’t hire Lane, but I do think people need a reality check when comparing OM’s success to LSU’s given the reality of the schedules. Just because they’re in the SEC doesn’t mean that they play a comparable schedule, especially since the most recent expansion.

In Freeze’s 5 seasons, they had one 10-win season. In 3 of the 5, they had a losing SEC record.

“At Ole Miss” should be tattooed on anyone’s forehead that brings things like this up.

Ole Miss never has talent or depth to consistently beat top tier teams. Their roster doesn’t even break the Top 20.

Yet he’s managed to make them relevant.

What do you think he would do with the talent at LSU? Talent that is consistently Top 10 year in and year out.

He’s doing better than just about any one else could at a program like Ole Miss. You act as if Ole Miss is some powerhouse program lol.
