Loves coaching here. This is exactly what he’s always wanted. He feeds off this crowd. He will get everything he wants here. Sure, the media will say this is just another stepping stone. I don’t believe it, but damnit I’m going to enjoy this ride while we have it.

Guy, I’m glad you’re happy with Lane and the win but do t get caught up in his “happiness”. Kiffin deals with some serious childhood trauma that makes him feel the need to run when things get good.

Fun fact: Home schoolers (who go on to get GED's) tend to score higher in testing than high schoolers. I'm really not concerned about who you were talking to, but I just wanted to point that out, as I like to do every time I see someone make a snarky remark about GED recipients.
I'm sorry that the downvoters don't like to hear that they're not actually smarter than the people they enjoy making fun of. Perhaps they can use their high school diplomas to go work at Space X, or whatever advantage they believe it gives them. My dad taught me how to think critically. High school teaches people to turn their brains off. But hey, they get to wear a hat and gown at graduation, so that's all that matters, I guess.

So a group whose parents almost all put effort into their education tends to score better on tests than a group with probably 50% parental participation? Weird.

I love the people who psychoanalyze a football coach for "leaving " and do not look at the logic.
Lane left Tennessee for a BETTER opportunity with USC. That was objectively a reasonable decision.
After that didn't work, he takes OC position with Bama.
Leaves OC for a HC position at FAU.
Leaves FAU yo take on objectively better job with Ole Miss.
Coached for 6 seasons and was Ole Miss' most successful coach.
Lane then leaves Ole Miss for an objectively better program at LSU.
None of the changes indicate "trauma ". They were ALL the right choices

Brother, you have been fed lies about this man for nearly 20 years.
If you want to psycho analyze his childhood, take a look at his dad’s career. He was a defensive guru that jumped from job to job for various reasons for decades before settling in Tampa and building his legacy.
The only time Lane has left a job sooner than maybe he should have was in 09 at Tennessee when his coaching birth place called him home. It was unfortunate timing but completely understandable why he made that decision after the nightmare he went through when he left SC for Oakland.
Seventeen years later, he made another coaching move that many have questioned. Not whether it was an upgrade, which it objectively was, but strictly based on the timing of his exit due to circumstances outside of his control.
Unfortunately that timing with OM in the playoff when this job opened up was the perfect storm for the media to dust off those old tropes about him from 08-2013 when Al Davis’ press conference and UT’s frat riot and SC leaving him on the tarmac gave them the headlines and clicks they feed on.
None of those hysterics were about anything that Lane did, btw, but the reactions that he elicited from others. But the media made those childish outbursts somehow about him and his maturity level, instead of about the petulant and scorned children that acted out in his wake.
But that media creation, if he ever even existed at all, isn’t the person coaching LSU in 2026, my man.
Monte, Carroll, and Saban are the examples Lane is trying to emulate. They all found their coaching homes later in their careers, and Lane finally has too.
Baton Rouge is Lane’s last stop.
Be thankful the timing worked out, and enjoy the Golden Age

So did Saban and Barry Switzer both had egos but won multiple championships. Many here search for black clouds among silver linings. Many here have a massive lack of football acumen and the patients of hummingbird on meth.

It's fair to suggest the that Lane might have ridden on his name when young and clearly gets antsy(Saban did too until he settled at Bama).
However, you cannot say he's not a great offensive coach. He also understands the modern player and portal better than pretty much anyone.

You say this as if it's some kind of rebuttal. You've made my point. But only in part. It isn't merely that the parents participate. It's the way the parents cut through the BS and focus on what is important and give one on one guidance. That's the point. People have this idea in their mind that if someone has a GED, they must be stupid, because they didn't go to public school. But nothing could be further from the truth, and the data bears that out.
Its up to students who go to public school to go the extra mile to educate themselves, because the school system has been found wanting for quite some time. I am often astounded by the number of high school graduates I encounter, who don't know very basic information, and it seems almost as if their teachers gave them a passing grade out of pity rather than merit. This isn't a hard and fast rule, of course, but it's a noticeable trend.

This coaching phenom hunkered down in Oxford fricking Mississippi for SIX YEARS with chances to leave at any point he wanted to.
Only when an objectively top 5 job in cfb came calling did he leave, and he agonized over it and did everything he could to finish out the season but was denied that opportunity by a petty and bitter AD that should regret that decision for the rest of his time there.
Don’t feed into the BS narratives about a dude that clearly sees himself doing something special in BR, and has taken and will continue to take endless amounts of shite from scavengers like Finebaum to make it a reality.

Lane Kiffin is 51.
He started coaching in his early 20s. He was ready to quit at Fresno State as a player, but Monte forbade him from doing so. So, he became a student coach.
He did stick at USC for a solid time as an assistant (after 3 jobs in 4 years in GA/support roles). It is the Raiders/Vols/USC period that earned him his reputation, particularly the single year at Tennessee. It is a reputation he rightly earned. He did seem chastened after the USC experience and has appeared to learn from Saban.
Maybe all of you are right. Maybe the six seasons at Ole Miss was penance enough.
